Is anyone else feeling super burnt out? I really can't wait for the week break to catch up on sleep.

Been sleep deprived for weeks now. It seems like the semester has gone by way quicker than the last, i guess due to the lack of a midsem break until now.

Omg I thought I was the only one. For the past 2 weeks I've had no motivation and on Monday woke up contemplating deferring the semester or even the whole course. Really shocked me when I was on the train and started processing it

is there always at least one biomed subject per semester that has an 8:30am exam  or something? Looking at people doing biomed's exam timetables and it's like we all have one ;o

Don't worry too much, I went through the same thing a few weeks ago, was this close to applying for a leave of absence.

If we're talking strictly about the education side of our highschool we did have a few quality teachers here and there especially in humanities where I can think of 2 teachers one who left and another who is a substitute.

It's somewhat comforting yet worrying that it seems like a normal thought among us. Perhaps it speaks volumes about our pressures and anxieties (there's a study that says we have more anxiety than a psychotic patient in the 1950's).

yeah we did have some good teachers(i can think of 1 more humanities one  ;D) - especially in later years (some bad ones too), but I was referring more to how it was run/structured tbh.

ANU does.

Most science departments will have a research project subject which you can take in semester, or over the summer (it's usually much quicker if you take it over the summer.) There's no scholarship (read, money) but you do get a subject credit for it.

There's also UROP, although that's not just for summer.
BSc (Hons) 2015 Melbourne

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

I want to be an architect.

Ah alright, thanks. I guess I'll just apply for the ones at Monash then

If you're fine with calculus, you could try Engineering Maths in semester 1 and then Vector Calculus in semester 2 (you can't do them in the other order, or concurrently though! too much overlap)
Eng Math is a fast-paced course covering the essential second year calculus topics, from Vector Calculus and Differential Equations, and then you could take Vector Calculus which goes into more depth on the first half of Eng Math.

I did Vector Calc only, and I found it was the kind of subject I could get through without going to lectures but I've always found visualising and applying calculus topics pretty intuitive, and I know friends who found it quite tough to keep on top of it.
