I want to say that again Frontiers is questioning my soul with "WHY DID YOU CHOOSE BIOMEDICINE"...It is legit the first subject whose material I'm completely unfamiliar with and it's the 9th week already.

MMI done and dusted and now the nervous waiting game begins.  :-X

David said* that exchange for Biomedicine students might be possible in semester 2 of third year, which I presume would not involve some massive re-arrangement to the study plan like it does for exchange in semester 2 of second year. If this is the case, and the subject is that bad, I would definitely consider it a lot more seriously.

* Anything David says can't be taken seriously, so I'm not counting on it.

I haven't even started listening to the pain lectures yet, and am not planning to because people have said the lectures are terrible (not helped by the recordings), and then our assignment is due on the 6th and seriously, screw it it.

Yeah, it's that bad unfortunately. If you can avoid Frontiers...please do.

Congratulations to you, and to everyone else who's sat their MMI! Hope it all works out for you. :)

Fingers crossed. Yesterday was the first day for MMIs and then the second day is on Monday for some reason. My voice was literally shaking on the first question of the first station but I got a better hold of myself a few minutes in.

Frontiers in Biomedicine is poorly executed but the idea behind it is commendable.

Mid sem break yay! (I say instead of finishing my essay)

I think I'm finally finding my 'grove' with this whole uni thing. I've been researching things out of enjoyment, getting excited over pracs (this is huge since last sem I frightened my lab partners off with tears-sorry guys), and feel like a seasoned pro when it comes to assessments (don't remind me of this when I get results back pls). And I know things? Yeah, I'm probably never going to get straight H1's like many of you on here but at the same time, as long as I'm learning I don't really care.  ;D

BIOM20002 mid-semester test 2 - better or worse than mid-semester test 1? I was lucky to take a smaller hit compared to most with the first test result, which should not have been that difficult if they had structured it properly. I feel like everything we've done since then has been more difficult (I feel like I have deceived myself into believing I understand physiology and pharmacology lol) and if they go stupid with the formatting again it could be a significant challenge. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)

I felt that not having done pharmacology as a separate subject made the pharm MST component difficult for me personally - I dropped quite a few marks there.

They assess pharm by giving you hypothetical drugs with various descriptions relating to things like lipid solubility, liver metabolism, clearance. Then they'll modify the drug (can't remember exactly) and you need to work out whether clearance, bioavailability, volume of distribution etc... increase, decrease, no change, not enough info (*cringes*).

I think the pain lectures are actually the easiest ones out of the lot, despite the annoying recording stuff ups. The assignment is also such a mess, how is one question worth THIRTY marks?!
Also I just finished marking the 5 assignments and was generous just because i feel like everyone who is alive at this point of the subject automatically deserves a H1...

Yeah the second one is probably more straightforward. Last year it didn't have any phys on it, so that made it a hell of a lot better.

Personally, I thought the anatomy wasn't too bad and that the pharm on it was actually pretty easy (though I must say pharm is one of very few areas that come naturally to me). Most did better on the second though not by a huge amount.

That sucks so much!!!! But you still have the whole day dude. Most people do their psych assignments on the last day anyway. Just knuckle down this whole day and do it. At least hand something in! You've got this dude!!
