i've got 12.5 points of unspecified credit from my Monash Maths extension, does this mean that i'll be able to count that for credit (do 1 less subject) first year only or can I save it til third year?

And also will this only take the place of a breadth?

Thanks!

Interesting to learn that the guy we named the Richard Berry Building after was in favour of eugenics.

"In 1934 he would argue that to eliminate mental deficiency would require the sterilisation of twenty-five per cent of the population. At the same time he also advocated the “kindly euthanasia” of the unfit."

Hey guys in order to qualify for post grad med at melbourne does one have to complete all the prereq subjects by first sem third year? Or can they complete a sub (e.g anat phys or biochem) in second sem third year and still be accepted?

To my knowledge no, the prerequisite subjects must all have been completed by the time of application. I may be wrong however, best to contact the faculty and clarify.

I dont think those scores would be high enough for dent unfortnately. If you can bump up your GAMSAT by at least one or two points, as well as get 6.5+ GPA then you may clinch an FFP offer

next semester is my last semester,so my GPA gonna stay on 6.0. and I am full fee student, so with that gpa and saying gamsat score of 67 (if I could improve it) still I have no chance right? (This is the saddest realization I ever had)

Your chances are pretty low, because while your GAMSAT is high, admissions equally weight GPA and GAMSAT and so a 6.0 GPA will drag your combo down a lot. If you sat the GAMSAT and got quite a high score (maybe 70+) then that might compensate for a low GPA.

If you're looking at Dent and also don't mind going interstate, an option is Usyd as their GPA is a hurdle (as long as you have >5.0). For entry into this year, the GAMSAT cut off for an interview was 61 IIRC. From there, offers are given based off 50% interview and 50% GAMSAT so with a 65 you're at a decent shot for a CSP (if you're eligible) and FFP.

On this note, does anyone know which textbooks are worth getting for dentistry (for first year or for 2nd or 3rd)? would like to purchase some online because it's cheaper

It will take the place of a subject that could potentially be a breadth (unless you do Science and want to replace one of your maths subjects—not sure what happens there). You get to choose which semester to take one less subject in.

One thing to look out for is choosing whether you want your MUEP credit to take the place of a subject that can only be a breadth or a subject that can be either a breadth or elective (subject that is in your faculty but not compulsory for your major).

None! I'm sure your cohort will receive the massive pdf textbook package from one of the upper years through facebook.
