Does anyone know around when timetable registration of Semester 2 subjects will open? Or does anyone remember when it was open in previous years?

From previous years it should be around 1 week or so after the exam period has finished, so end of June/start of July

Yeah, it's a little weird how that works.

(+ for Auslan I'd highly recommend just getting the assessment out of the way around a fortnight after the intensive week anyway so you don't have to push it into your second semester.)

But you can still do four next semester and then underload sometime next year, or even in your third year. So long as you average out to eight subjects each year, you're fine. 300 total credit points for your degree, 100 every year, and most subjects contribute 12.5 points. So you could do nine subjects in your first year and then only do seven in your third to give yourself an easier time if the content is more difficult.

But you won't be able to manually overload yourself, so you'll have to lodge an application with your student centre. And so long as your grades are decent, they'll usually grant it without question.

Unless you do a diploma. This is my third semester overloading without telling the student centre.

It's only week 7 + two weeks after the break and I'm so close to burning out. Seriously need a good, long break. Second year is intense with all these mid-sems!

I know right? Anatomy is making me feel pretty demoralised pretty quickly. But what doesn't kill you at uni will only make you stronger, as cliched as that sounds.

Just keep going. Personally I found the limb lectures the most frustrating. Are you done with those yet?

Anatomy has been the most difficult and frustrating subject for me. I am finding physiology so much easier but I was told anatomy would be the easier one.

Do you guys who have done anatomy have any tips on how to cover everything? I just feel there is too much content, some of the MCQ I did today I did by process of elimination, and then when I got to the answer I was like ''Wow I never actually knew that''. So I feel there is just so much info and I just haven't covered everything yet. Would be much appreciated.

Any questions related to pathways towards studying dentistry or physiotherapy? Gimmi a PM!

I also found physiology much easier, hence my major (neuroscience is essentially physiology in disguise and made specific to the nervous system - by the way I'm absolutely loving it).

I took the advice of members of the cohort above me and didn't make any notes for the majority of the anatomy content. I just made online flashcards and went through those as often as I could.

Thanks for that.

Yeah I've been making notes but it just hasn't been as helpful because they are so long, and things don't sink in. It's fine for MCQ I guess because all I have to do is recognise but for the essay questions I don't know how I am going to recall absolutely every detail. Thanks for the help.

So relieved that the Anatomy mid-sem is over. I just need a break - I have had three mid semester exams that I've been engulfed in studying for, for the last two weeks. Week 7 is practically over & exams are looming *sighs*. This was a FAST semester - I feel like I say this for every semester lol, but it genuinely feels like we started the year last week :P

Completed VCE Biology in 2013 with a study score of 47. Offering tutoring in VCE Biology for 2020 in Geelong region! PM me for more details.

I think that flashcards for anatomy are great, or doing your own drawings helps a lot. I made a book of my own drawings and this pulled me through

Yeah we're done with those. To be honest, I don't have a preference for or against any topics because everything is equally dry for me. I don't know how on Earth I'll survive this subject.

Hey guys,

Just thought I would advertise here that Day of Immunology is on this coming Friday (29th) and there are quite a few events around campus and surrounds. One I would flag in particular are the discovery tours of different institutes including WEHI, PDI and Burnet. If you're considering research next year, trying to decide where to do Honours or if you're even just interested in general, it's a good opportunity to have a look through some of the buildings and see the facilities as well as talk to people that work there. You need to register for the events so I'll post the links below. Note that the WEHI tour is not on the 29th but on the 27th instead ;)

Tours: http://www.dayofimmunology.org.au/discovery_tours
Public lectures (aimed at people with no real knowledge of Uni level Sciences): http://www.dayofimmunology.org.au/public_lecture
2009 ENTER: 99.05
2014: BSci Hons (Microbiology/Immunology) at UoM
2015+: PhD (Immunology) at UoM

Kind of an awkward question, but how should I approach telling my group assignment members that I'm doing the assignment on my own because they aren't pulling their weight.

Tell them upfront, if they aren't doing what they need to do then feel free to just point blank let them know.

Obviously it's probably best when you warn them before, instead of saying 'right i'm out, you're on your own now'. I'm going to assume this is QM1 from your course, since it's due on Friday, you should probably still stick this one through and simply not sign up with them for the next assignment.

45+ raw score guaranteed (or 100% refund) for 2022 Methods & Specialist (other subjects also available - classes for all) register now!

Also hiring excellent Methods, Chemistry, Physics, Biology + Specialist tutors with a passion for excellence - PM me!

We also now support Chemistry, Physics and Biology!
