Sorry for stepping beyond my limits and posting in the uni thread but this question has been in my mind for at least a week now. Could any biomed students tell me what studying full time means? I know that it might depend on the days your subjects run etc. but could someone explain that aswell?
What I'm hoping to happen is that:
1) I get to study 3 days of the week, that is Mon, Tues, Thurs (can be any three days, doesn't matter) and then work on the other two, but is that attainable? Will I be at uni Mon to Fri 9-3 or something?

Mods, please, if I've posted in the wrong section feel free to delete it. And like I said, I know that it comes down to the classes that one chooses etc. and the tutorial etc. so I'm happy with a generalised answer :)
Thanks!

Depends on who you're asking to define it, but the technical definition of full-time is that you study 3-4 subjects per semester. Part time is 1-2.

Unfortunately, I suspect you'd probably find it really difficult to take two days a week off to work, particularly in your first year.
There's a lot of flexibility in timetables, and when you'd be at uni really depends on how you set up your timetable and the subjects you choose. The reality is that each subject schedules classes individually, so what you'll probably end up with is classes scattered across all days. So even if you take a light load, Thursday might look like a class at 9am then another one at 4, but with the rest of the day free.

I have a question for the people undertaking a bachelor of science. What is the retention rate of students? I was at the open day and I was informed that ~1500 undertake chemistry 1 in the first semester. Of those, how many people drop out/transfer?

Same question, but instead with commerce subjects.

By second year chemistry, about 300 take semester 1 and 130 take semester 2 (and about 40 of those 130 attend lectures).
Currently studying at the University of Melbourne.

Rant:
Wow at the hot mess that was the HSF mst today. The Pharmacology department had to wipe out 8 questions from the test because they forgot to include values to the x-axis to their graph (does nobody double-check these tests?  :o) and then the other Pharmacology question tested us on something from a topic that shouldn't have been in the MST in the first place. Gotta love it

So much for BIOM20002 being better this year. <_<

Meanwhile, now I understand why so many people say they zone out with BIOM30001. I've pretty much not cared at all this semester. =_=

Yeah, it was the subject I got most frustrated with during Biomed. Looking forward to your review

It's a pity really because a lot of the content is really interesting and tends to stick with you after doing it. The skills they try to introduce are also really important, though probably should be covered earlier in the course (e.g. people reading their first scientific paper in their last semester is pretty pathetic imo). A lot of potential to be a great subject if it were put together better :\

Week 11-12 in a nutshell.

Can't wait until exams are over, but they feel way too close for comfort.
