should be fine with enough doctors notes backing it up

im fairly sure when you accept the supplementary exam you forfeit your original results and are agreeing to do it again. i think you can wait a few days before you have to take teh supplementary exam dont you? every time ive had special consideration ive been able to wait til my first mark came out and then decide if i wanna do it or not

Yeah, they haven't informed a date or time yet. Hopefully, I'd be able to see my results and decide. It should be sometime next week or after right, as my medical and HPR covers up till this Friday?

Also, probably a silly question but is the supplementary exam the same or similar as the normal exam, or is it completely different? Probably the latter, but my curiosity is getting the  better of me here haha  ::)

Similar but still nevertheless fairly different. It'd be pointless if it's the same (as you can just get the answers all off a friend).

What are the options for missing out on tutorials for say a month? Can I get an approval for this, as my surgery recovery time is around a month to get walking again. I can watch all lectures at home and do the homework as well I presume, but won't be able to formally turn up for classes. Are there any actions I can do now to notify the university of this?

First year UoM commerce student. I wish to take Corporate Finance as part of my level 3 Finance major elective in third year. However Corporate Finance specifies prerequisites of either Business Finance or Corporate Financial decision making. I cant take business finance as it does not allow Principles of Finance to be previously taken and thats a core subject. And Corporate Financial decision making does not exist anymore. Im just confused. Is anyone else having the same problem?

it's not that corporate financial decision making does not exist anymore but that the subject hasn't been commenced yet. it starts next year as it continues from principles of finance which only starts this year. previously you take finance 1 then business finance. hope it clears up the confusion.

Hi everyone:)
I'm about to start my first year of BSci in a few weeks and have been asked to help it at my old high school by going on a camp. It's a paid role that would hook me up with some much needed coin but it'd require me to miss 2 full days of uni (6 lectures, 3 tuts, 2 practicals).

Firstly, am I even allowed to miss uni like this without a medical certificate or extenuating circumstances? Do I need to approach the university to forewarn them of my absence before I go?

Secondly - will I die trying to catch up (the camps in the second week of uni)?

You'll be fine as long as it's not compulsory tutes haha (if it is, you'll be losing those marks so be prepared).

As for catching up, I think you'll be fine :)

If you check the handbook for your individual subjects https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/faces/htdocs/user/search/SimpleSearch.jsp under assessments it may have an attendance and participation in tutorials etc, those are the ones that you'll lose marks for not attending (correct me if I'm wrong :) )

On the LMS for chemistry 1 it talks about lecture streams, however when I did my timetable none of the lectures were linked. I have 2 lectures in 1 stream (10 AM) but the third lecture is in another. Does this matter at all seeing as though there was no reference to the lectures being streamed when constructing the timetable?

It doesn't matter. They just repeat the lecture throughout the day  :)

None of the available lecture streams for calculus 2 work with my core subjects. What are the odds that the JH Mitchell Theatre will be full and I will get in trouble for attending the wrong lecture?

Some people choose to watch the lectures online instead of attending in person so theatres are almost never filled. Also attendance isn't taken at lectures so even if the lecture theatre has too many people in it (which only really has the possibility of happening during the first week anyway) they would have no idea that you are not timetabled to be in that lecture theatre

Thanks for your help  :)

So is it definitely possible to make it through a whole semester attending a  lecture stream that you aren't enrolled in?

Also, should I still register for the available lecture stream even though there is a clash? Or will the timetable not permit this?
