Hey guys I'm doing Calc 2, would I need to buy the textbook?
No. Textbooks are not needed for any maths subjects.

If practice classes are used to go over the info from the previous week's lectures, wouldn't it be better to have them on Monday then say on a Friday so there isn't a 2 week gap?

That would only apply to the first week of semester which often don't have scheduled tutorials. And given that the first week is mainly house-keeping and introductory matters, it shouldn't be an issue.

wait..now I'm confused. If I have say a calculus practice class on Friday, do we go over what we learnt on the lectures we had THAT week? Or the previous week?

Previous week for calc :)
So better to put it on Monday then Friday? So all the problems are fixed before commencing the next set of lectures.

^ For Calc 2 we got given a question booklet, I guess just ask the lecturer for it next time. We haven't done very much, just go over the introduction to limits, limit laws and Sandwich theorem.

Does anyone know what the difference between a seminar and a lecture is?

I think seminars tend to go for longer and are more interactive between lecturer and students, often there aren't as many as lectures

The booklet is for your general practice, so if you run out of things to do or want to do some questions.

In the tutorials, you will get a sheet of questions which you basically work out with other people on a board. You can alternate who attempts a question, or work it out with one person writing it.

The tutor helps out if anything is needed, provides the question sheets, assignments and marks your tests/assignments.
It's very much student controlled. You control how fast you go, how you do the questions, whether or not you participate at all etc.
2014: Microbiology/Immunology Major.

Thanks to (alphabetical order):
2010: appianway. 2011: Kamil9876, laseredd, xZero. 2012: dc302, harper, marr.
Multiple times: pi, Russ, stonecold, TT.

Would you be missing anything important if you miss the first tutorial of the semester?
