I can definitely see the difference in the clarity of my notes when I use the textbook - so I'm going to advocate for shelling out the ridiculous amounts of cash and buying them once more.

Sidebar: in a shocking twist of events, chemistry is the subject I am currently most up-to-date in and understand best. I don't think this is meant to happen.

Wat is 'up to date', I am unfamiliar with this concept.

Wait till the end of the semester when the organic chem guys tell you that you are expected to know chair conformations and newman projections even though it's all lost knowledge (good idea to revise that now :) )

I remember Newman projections and chair conformations but since I have to revise spectroscopy anyway I might as well go over them so they're sharp in my mind and not floating around in the back somewhere  :)

Pracs and ILTs are both examinable!
oh thats what i meant, like lectures/pracs/ilts/tute stuff being examinable.

In Chem 2 apparently the quantum chemistry lecturer says "read the textbook" as his notes and then examines things related to the book
welp. well this isn't going to go down well. D:> idk if im like, just super slow at reading or what but every time i try to learn anything from a textbook it takes forever and ever and ever. D:

does anyone know where to go to for cheap colour printing? Q____Q i spent $30 yesterday for like, two weeks worth of material for chem + eng. plus i print six to a page, double sided. havent even bothered with bio yet because there's so many slides. D: i miss high school where printing was suuper cheap. ;n;

Cheap colour printing exists? :( How expensive is it at uni?

Also following a conversation on IRC earlier, shameless plug for all the UoM people ever to join it and outnumber the Monash students. *raises flag of rebellion*

haha not *too* bad, something like, 25c per side if you print double sided. but i do weep a little inside when dawn gleeson has 60-70 slides per lecture. and when printing 6 to a page, i have to write really small to fit all my notes in. ;n;

Does anybody have any helpful tips/tricks on how to memorise the 20 amino aciddsssss??? :/

Sorry if this is a bit late to the conversation, but I found that this video was really helpful in learning all the amino acids. Just watch it a few times.

A lot of you guys like to ask about UROP so in case you weren't aware I'll just give you a heads up: there's a UROP information session in the ESJ King Theatre tomorrow at 12pm - 1pm so if you're considering applying this round or next year you should go along to hear about what the program involves and etc! :)

I wish Dawn Gleeson would speak just a little slower and a little more clearly so I didn't have to Lectopia all her lectures after attending in person :(
