Because two pages of talk about some mathematics isn't what this thread is for. If you want to do that, do it somewhere else. There's a reason we have boards and threads for specific purposes - so that if people have queries about certain things they can ask them in a certain place, or we can have discussions about common issues/goals/interests/anecdotes etc to do with the university.

This thread is for 'general' chat yes, but that's chat about the university in general. Questions, procedures, uni life and so on.

This is why I made a maths thread.

Where is the registration for the pre-science camp? Or is it just known as O-Week? I'm actually confused.

charmanderp don't take this the wrong way but I think you could ease up on patrolling the content of this thread to such a high extent.  I think this thread should be a place in which you can talk about basically anything, it's a chat.  It's not like people talking about maths, or whatever topic, prevents others from asking their questions or changing the topic...

If nobody is doing anything wrong [ie, breaking the rules of this forum by being cruel to others or generally inappropriate as opposed to just posting something you think might stray 10% off the major topic of a thread] there's really no reason to tell anyone off.  This thread is meant to be more enjoyable - it's not somewhere that people just come to ask for help with one specific question.  People should be able to talk broadly about most anything or it becomes really constricting and it's not a very nice place to contribute or converse anymore.

Also, if you ask me, maths does have something to do with university if people take maths at university.  Even if the word 'uni' is not uttered.

PS plz don't ban me thnx

Fair enough - apologies if I offended anyone or put them off this thread. That genuinely wasn't my intention. I thought I was just gently nudging the thread back on topic (didn't really think I was being that strict at all to a 'high extent' given I only made one single two posts telling people to get back on track before Levilamp asked for an explanation) but I understand if it didn't come across that way. I just think this thread serves a better purpose and generally allows for a much higher quality of posting when the conversation is centred around university talk (like most of the previous 340 odd pages was), and I guess I felt that that particular conversation was also somewhat exclusive to those who did come here to talk about university, and it could easily take place somewhere else. If the consensus is that it's appropriate here I completely accept that.

As you were.

Census date for each subject varies I believe. Most seem to be 31/march

Not quite - the census date is the last day on which you can unenrol from subjects without incurring fees for them. The last day on which you can enrol in a new subject is two weeks prior to the census date (or two weeks after the beginning of semester).
