Hey Guys, I was wondering how many marks in total, does each semester of BIOL10004 (Biology of cells ad organisms) add up to? .i.e., I would like to know how many marks is semester 1 out of and how many marks is semester 2 out of? (i have no idea what each of them is out of, so please don't say that they are worth the same marks :P)

If it helps, here's how the overall subject result thing works:

H1 (First class honours), 80-100%
H2A (Second class honours, division A), 75-79%
H2B (Second class honours, division B), 70-74%
H3 (Third class honours), 65-69%
P (Pass), 50-64%
N (Fail), 0-49%

So when you finish your subjects, you typically get a grade like this.
Fourth year Bachelor of Science student at unimelb, majoring in Zoology. I also run the Unimelb Adventures blog about student life on campus: http://unimelbadventures.com

So how it works is that your degree is 300 points in total. Each year is thus 100 credit points. And since you have 8 subjects a year, that comes to 12.5 credit points per subject. This is what people mean when they say that a subject like BIOL10004 is equal to say CHEM10003 etc.

Hope this helps.

mhm, and as long as you pass the subject, you get the 12.5 points.

Uni has sanctioned all my portal information inc. marks because I didn't pay my SSAF, but I PAID IT TWO DAYS AGO AND THE MONEY IS NO LONGER IN MY BANK ACCOUNT, I'm going to murder someone.

Did you have to pay $281.00 or $381.00 due to it being late? I'm paying mine now but not sure whether to pay 281 or 381 :S I can't believe I forgot to do it!  :-[

Oh but never mind scribble who described getting 75% as being raped by the exam or something haha. We should all know at AN that marks are relative to expectations of self. I walked out thinking I dropped 1/2 mark so I was pretty sad to find out is dropped 3. Doesn't sound like much I know but as I say - all relative!!!! <3 Nice to see that most people here seem to be enjoying what they're doing at Uni atm, love your snapchats Natalie haha

Never mind it indeed. Marks are definitely relative and it is super sad to bust your butt and study x343294032 hours, only to interpret that a mark returned is a reflection of a personal limitation. I feel that way all the time! But I haven't complained regarding the H1 in my psych lab report (no idea what the numerical mark is, but it was returned with ample criticism so I'm guessing 85ish) because I don't think it would make someone who sees it and received a 70, feel very nice. 70 is an awesome mark. Actually, 65 in engineering is an awesome mark; you need an average of 65% in your last two years, no ATAR requirement, for a guaranteed CSP domestic place in masters. Which shows how difficult your subjects are, and how ~remarkable~ you and scribble's marks are @_@. That is the definition of relativity.
