I feel like I did well aside from that one unchangeable question (I fucked up the Ramachandran plot one and couldn't fix it), but who knows? D: I feel like I THINK I got the questions right but didn't.

Why there is no review on this subject! :((((((((((

It was removed at the request of the subject coordinator :)

The slides will be mostly all you need to know as far as I remember but the course may have changed a little this year as I believe Jason is lecturing now, correct me if wrong?  You should be okay as long as you understand everything on the slides.

Nothing I enjoy more than making up mouse boxes at ~6pm on a Friday because you've FLOODED the original cages with water...before headin' back to da lab for more funtimes. 12 hour lab days hurt my soul.

still crying over biochem and not learning the chymotrysin mechanism as well as i should've. i had A but then i couldn't remember what aspartate did and then concluded it wasn't key at all :'((
what did you guys choose for the question about mutations and the secondary structure of the extra four residues? @ A @

also the techniques midsemester test was suspisciously easy. (which probably means i did everything wrong). like the entire paper seemed to just be c1v1=c2v2 and n=cv=m/M

I'm pretty sure that it was a B-turn. On the slides on secondary structure it said that a B-turn has 4 residues... so that's what I picked? Not 100% sure though :(

PS. which quesiton on mutation? I don't remember :(

I picked beta-turn as well just because it was specifically a 4 residue gap, not 100% but I know I crossed out some of the other options eg multiple alpha helices

btw guys do you know if the 'test your understanding' quiz after the tutorials in the cal contribute to marks (for participation)? I don't remember seeing a quiz for tutorials 2 and 4 (I have completion credits for 2 and 4) but the 'test your understandings' are shaded out.

mm i crossed out the alpha one too. but i didnt choose the beta turn cause thought a beta turn might be unfavourable cause it would change the direction of the main chain/make it weird for the rest of the protein structure to align properly? but then the rest of the options were kind of all weird as well so.. :S :'(

o.O werent those the DNA tutes? im pretty sure there were questions in the first block quiz on those topics :S

Nah man, dont worry about the quizes :P you can just skip and go to get the credit for the tute. As long as you got credit for the tute, don't worry about whether you completed the quizes in the tutes or not.

yeah i'm not too sure. but i wasn't too fussed because i did manage to a cross a few of the answers out to a 50/50 or something. eg another option was beta sheet which seems unlikely for only 4 residues

btw i'm talking about the mini quizzes that are integrated into the actual cals - not the block quizzes that are cumulatively 5%. i think i didn't see it because i was just clicking for credit, lol

tops

btw did you guys get 'ph is irrelevant' or whatever for that ph question with the polypeptide??

MY GOD THE CONUNDRUM. Next semester I have to take MCEN30014: Mech Design and a lvl 2 breadth. And I've narrowed it down to Business Finance and Introductory Personal Finance.

EDIT: Dat one day of uni per week
EDIT v2: NOOOOOOO Intro Personal is only run in Semester 1 -_-

With Intro Personal:

With Business Finance

I've heard that Business Finance is "cake" from one of my mates but I haven't heard anything about Intro Personal. The other good thing about taking Bus Fi is that my twin will be taking it at the same time. So, extra study source. Any advice AN?

EDIT: Regarding the idea of competition in university, I understand that Biomed students are predominantly aiming for post-grad courses, but has it really gotten to the point where students are still treating studies as competition like in VCE? I'm actually curious because this doesn't happen in any of the engineering classes I've enrolled in before.

because engineering students are lazy as fuck haha
the only study i see people do is basically attend the lectures and tutorials. I feel embarrassed when i say i do the tutorial sheets because no one else does them.

i dont think we feel the pressure to get good good grades as there is no gamsat. And the gap requirement for masters is significantly less ; 65% (not saying it's easy to get but easier compared to med if u know what i mean).
