I thought the cardiac cycle question was pure genius on Charles' part and the kidney questions were to be expected...we had plenty of warning. One of the better written MSTs out of all subjects at uni to date.
The cardiac cycle image was actually in the pre-readings if anyone does those... If you've got Silverthorn handy - look at Figure 14-25 (p. 497 in 5e). It's just after the ECG stuff if you've got another edition.

Awh yay! Arianne and Charles prepared us quite well, I can't wait until Research Phys next semester.
From the hints Charles has dropped, research-based sounds like great fun! I'm also doing it next sem.

My subjects have been ahmazing this semester, I can't wait for cognitive psychology, principles of human structure, and research-based phys. Speaking of which, is anyone doing those at the moment, or have completed Food Systems or Forests in a Global Context in the past? They're winter break subjects. I can bait you with free coffee and muffins at Parkville.

LOL yeah, Charles is very subtle about why we should enroll in his baby, Research Phys.

"This is a topic those in Research Phys will already understand, due to last week's prac."

"We'll go into this topic in greater depth after all 700 of you enroll in Research Phys."

"The heart rate will increase as you stand up, WHICH YOU WOULD ALREADY KNOW IF YOU DID RESEARCH PHYS."

You were probably very organised if you thought research phys was laid-back El! I'm doing it this sem and it has probably been the subject I've worked on the most, there's always something due! (I am kind of excited though, last prac report due on monday, woop woop)

Charles didn't lecture us last year in semester 2 for research phys :'(

I just thought there was a lot of opportunity to discuss with your prac groups about possible mechanisms behind the prac questions etc.
Also, not many other subjects allow you to submit drafts, have them corrected and then be able to submit your final research project with those corrections :P

The exam was really basic because at least 90% of questions were repeated from past exams :P I just discussed all of them with my friend prior, that study technique worked out really well.

I think those were just questions we had to do before our prac on the LMS. They made a small contribution to our subject mark. The Staff said that they had post-prac questions in the semester prior.

To all non jaffys,

If we're not allowed to bring backpacks into the examination room (@ Royal Exhibition Building) how did you guys carry your stuff with you to the venue?
Did you just hold your pens, ruler, calculator, drink bottle, etc. in your pockets?

I don't mind doing that but just wondering if there were any better alternatives. (Public transport is the only option of getting there for me)

Also is it true that it's really cold in the building? XD

Thanks

You can bring bags, there is a shed outside the exam room.. I've never needed to use them though.

Its cold, but not thaaaat cold- just wear some layers.

Yeah, the opportunities for discussion have been really helpful. And yes, that's very true about the drafts! I think we'd all be pretty lost without them.

Ooh, thanks for that! It's my last exam so it'll be good to not have to stress about it too much  :)

So you didn't bring a bag at all?

And well, the thing is I don't really 100% trust the students of the uni anymore haha; my bike helmet got stolen the other day (arguably my fault for just leaving it hanging on my bike, but come on lol) hence why I'd prefer not to use the shed

And fair enough, I'll just wear a jacket over my hoodie, few extra pockets to hold my stuff haha

You're allowed to take your valuables into the exam room with you (they don't advise keeping valuables in the sheds since there isn't anyone to guard them). You just keep them under your desk during the exam :)

Oh yeah I feel so stupid now lol
I'll just bring all the stuff I need in my bag and leave the empty bag in the shed when I do the exam lol

nek mennit bag gets stolen

Alright cheers for that neatfeet, AN with the logic as always

No worries! Enjoy the squishiness after the exam when everyone is crawling on top of each other in the shed, trying to find their bags so they can put as much space as possible between themselves and REB   :P

Is there much group work in Research-Based Physiology?

I am more anti-group work than I am anti-Hitler.

It's all group work, but the assessment is individual except for a couple of online activities which don't count for much.
