Same exact situation; two exams last week and work on Sat.

Has anyone here passed biochem? Is it one of those "easy to pass, hard to H1" subjects? So effing terrified right now, ideally I'd want a good score but the thought of failing is making me appreciate just passing now.

I'M TOTALLY IN THE SAME BOAT FOR BIOCHEM ;A; good luck!
having four exams in week one was bad for my biochem study Q___Q
it would've been much easier to H1 last year, since the online stuff was worth 20% and the MST only 10%
(though I'm relying on my MST marks to get me through this exam alive)

Damn I'm taking that one alongside two core major subjects and another L3 subject next year... Bummer. Hey can you send me a link to the echo site?!

I promise it's not that bad! I also found most of it quite interesting, especially the carbs and lipids (which I'm learning for the first time right now). I just had four other exams to study for, and a heap of assessments in the last two weeks, so this has been sacrificed. If you put the time in, you should see the results - it's not one of those subjects where a massive curveball or poor coordination means your hopes of getting an H1 are uncertain. I can't send you a link here, though - apparently it contravenes the copyright policy now :(

Awwwwh, everyone I know is flipping out over the biochemistry exam, at least you're all in this together. :( This is basically every biochemistry student on my facebook feed at the moment

If you become a neuroscience major, it's not a prerequisite. Just putting that out there.

If it's the BCMB20003 biochem then I found it pretty good. It's pretty much all memorization and for the love of all that is sacred memorize glycolysis (be able to draw the all the molecules/names of enzymes) and the TCA (both are very easy marks). Pretty much the entire exam is memory. If you know the pathways etc then you will do well. Not really any trick questions from what I remember.

I'm not sure, but I just want that Chemistry exam to be over. Seriously, I feel like actually talking to that paper tomorrow and saying "Look, you didn't like me during the semester and I didn't like you. At the start of the year I was hoping for a H1, but if you could give me even a H2B, that'd be really great, and we'll forget that all of this ever happened."

:( +_+

Oh also I was just intending to bring my scientific calculator in tomorrow. Hopefully it will suffice. :/

Good luck to everyone doing biochem, it sounds like hell ;__;

I'm almost 100% sure this question has been asked here already, but for Chemistry for Biomed, are we allowed to bring any kind of graphing calculator we want (including specifically the TI-nspire CAS), or is there a list somewhere I have to check?

The exam cover also says we're not allowed to store any additional information on the calcs, but there are all these random documents on mine that came with the calculator. Do I have to delete them all? :/ I think it'd be pretty obvious they're not going to be any help in the exam... and the invigilators seem pretty casual tbh. But I'd avoid the trouble if I can.

Hey dude, I'm not sure if they changed it this year but I brought in my CAS calc for Chemistry 1+2 exams and it was fine. As long as you don't do anything shifty like store notes and all then you'll be fine.

Good luck! :)

Are we allowed to bring our molecular kit (the one that came with the chemistry textbook) in the box that comes with it? I fear the cyclohexane diagram constitutes a breach of examination protocol :P Maybe I'll just bring it in a clear plastic ziploc bag..

I brought a scientific to mine, don't think I saw anybody with a CAS. Just play safe lol

Nah you don't need to delete the crap that came with the calculator :P
If they do check, they should be able to see immediately that the docs on there won't assist you in any way (to be honest I doubt they'd even know how to find them).

For all of first year science, not a single one of my calculators has been checked despite needing it in almost every exam. You should be fine to bring it in - but don't abuse this fact ;)

EDIT: I think I remember Physics 1: Fundamentals allowed us to bring in calculators that allowed us to "solve", and they warned us that if they found any stored information on there we'd be in trouble. But the point is, the "solve" function was perfectly legal.
