I have a problem with lecture capture/echo recordings. Whenever I click on a link on the LMS for echo centre it loads a blank screen, I am also unable to scroll. Tried installing/uninstalling flash, and refreshing the page doesn't help either. Does anyone know of this problem? Or have any ideas as to why this might occur?

I'm on Chrome and getting the same problem - a short term thing that works for me is to open the link incognito (right click -> open link in incognito window)

Has anyone else noticed that course readers seem to be mega expensive this semester? My SCRN20011 reader last sem was ~$17 IIRC and this semester the reader for SCRN30005 is ~$40, and they're roughly the same size.

I'm guessing the arts faculty is just trying to recoup some funds from the uni cuts.

Average needed for biochem hons is in the range 70-75, fyi (I'm sure you've comfortably got that, if they've given you a positive response .)

It really comes down to convincing a supervisor that you'll be able to work well in their lab. High grades (among other things) help here.

Yeah i'll have to talk myself into a few things.  Hopefully I can hold my GPA in the H1 band.  First Level 3 subject this semester... eek!  Thanks for the tips, mahler.

I doubt this would be normal for unimelb students, unless there's some extremely unusual circumstance. I know exceptions are made for exchange students. That said, I do think you could get away with not doing BCMB20005, as long as you're aware that BCMB30010 would be a huge step up from first year chem. Still, I'd contact the coordinator, although you'd need a pretty good reason.

The research project is available over summer, but you need to have completed BCMB30010 first.

leon made a couple comments during monday's lecture directed towards students who hadnt taken 20005 and there are notes on the lms for "those students who have not taken bcmb20005" so i don't imagine its super rare to do atms without tms. + we recieved an email saying that all students who made the prerequisites were guaranteed a position into the subject which kind of implied there was potential for students who hadnt made the prereqs to be considered aswell.
i also personally know a guy who took tms concurrently with chem 2, so i feel like the biochem department isnt super strict with their prereqs.

This is from 2013 but for this years, if you can't find the link it may be that the lecturer has forgotten to make the link visible, so email them.

Don't worry, I know most people wouldn't have attended that lecture and will be bombarding the department with emails already (at least that was the case for visual neuroscience). It may come up tomorrow morning as it is a late lecture.

Yeah, I didn't really fancy waiting around 7 hours for that lecture. Thanks for that, I thought it was just me, but since it seems to be other neuro subjects as well I don't feel too bad

I don't think that it's a problem about the lecture being uploaded lately but rather the link to the Echo for that subject is wrong altogether. Lecturer did say that he would fix it up though, was at the lecture.
