See some AN people have got Melbourne interview offers. Good luck guys!

Lowest non-rural scores I've seen for a Melbourne offer seems to be 6.7+ GPA and 64+ Melbourne weighted GAMSAT.

Does anyone know if lateness penalties are applied after the time the assignment was originally due each day (e.g. due 1pm monday, marks deducted after 1 on monday, then more marks are not deducted until after 1 on tuesday etc.) or just each day (e.g. due 1pm monday, marks deducted after 1 on monday, then more is deducted after midnight on tuesday, midnight on wed., etc.)?

I'd hazard a guess that it's each day. And when you say midnight on Tuesday, I think you mean Tues 12.01am.

That's suprising? I thought the GAMSAT would have been higher ;O

The majority have a high 60s Melourne weighted GAMSAT, those scores would be very borderline. And it's a bit iffy as some people who got higher than those got passed down, so nobody really knows what's going on.

Apparently they've cut down the number of interviews from 150% to 110% of spots, so that could explain the jump.

Wait so you basically are guaranteed to get in? Based on grades alone? Seems unlikely/pointless but ok.

That would make a lot more sense. I guess having some Grad access helps yeh? :o (but you never know if you get it or not)
I guess the advantage of 110% is that if you have an interview, you have a pretty decent shot at a place :)

It doesn't seem to make sense though...no idea how they're going to guarantee the FFP spots if that was the case

Just to clarify, the incoming system for Monash postgrad MBBS is 50/75 places are designated for biomed people without the need for gamsat, while the remaining 25 places are for biomed/science/etc. + gamsat.

I'm aware but it's still silly. It's similar to what UoM are doing with the Chancellor's Scholars Program and severely hampering the allocation of postgrad places (ie based on high school results and choices)

Congratulations/commiserations to those who received their application outcome today. If anybody would like to talk about the interview you can ask questions here. I used to tutor but I'm maybe not doing that this year, due to substantially higher time commitments. If people want, there's potential to discuss sample stations/questions in a thread or skype etc.
