Does anyone know if Chinese 3 is a big jump from Chinese 1 & 2 if you have no other background in Chinese but Chinese 1 & 2?

Whats my likelyhood of getting into ANAT20006 for semester 1 with a WAM of 76 (and H1's in prerequisites).

Also, is the enrolment process simply enrolling in it through the study plan?

huge jump in my opinion. I dropped out of chinese 3 midway because it was way too much for me. Especially if you didnt do so well in chinese 2 and don't remember many of the characters. It's probably doable like all chinese but for me I just found the workload way too much compared to the reward, I feel like chinese 1+2 gave me enough knowledge to be a good tourist in china and survive if i got dropped in a city with no one who spoke english, i feel liek if you do chinese 3 you may as well go all the way to chinese 6 and aim for proper proficiency.

Congrats! Don't worry too much. It's not too much of a hassle to get enrolled into ANAT20006. From what i've seen from my friends, they mainly look at the prereqs. I can't confirm that but it's very likely you'll get a place. My friend managed to enter in with a H1 and H2A

Hey guys, in terms of extra-curricular activities required to really secure your chances of degree related internships/jobs in the future, are leadership positions in clubs/societies and case competitions the only things that really count? I have a part time job, previous volunteer experience at a charity shop, and I'm thinking about joining a uni sports team next year and will probably apply for a case comp (but that one's not really graranteed...). Would this be enough? Thanks

In actuarial studies less necessary, I don't particularly see too much value of case comps for an actuary, but this may be a controversial viewpoint. I'd still encourage joining ASS (actuarial students' society) though as a committee member if you can :)

What's more important is the depth of your impact vs what you actually do (eg. being able to help raise revenue at your charity shop by $20,000 (and thus overall impact) is more valuable than joining a student society)

Second this. Anyone can sign up to case competitions and participate, even better if you win, but it's still more valuable to employers that you've taken initiative and done something of value. For example, I was able to secure a well paying internship in the middle of second year despite having mediocre grades. In my case, I started a blockchain venture fund, amidst the crypto boom, where I managed funds for some close friends. Started off with just 2 people, times were good, we made a quick buck and word got out. The fund grew in number and, before I knew it, I was pitching project recommendations at a boutique investment bank. Never would I have thought I'd get into this niche field, which is now quickly growing, but I guess you just got to try different things till something clicks for you.

Try School Experience as Breadth: https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/subjects/educ20080
Wonderful teacher, learn some life skills, easy to score well provided you're interested.
Steer clear from Street Art as a breadth, the lecturer is politicized (as is the subject)...but I guess that's to be expected of Arts subjects. I still managed to do well by using leftist buzzwords like 'patriarchy', 'white privilege' and 'social justice'...never again lol
If you are able to choose level 1 breadths in 2nd year biomed, microeconomics is quite interesting. This'll open up the door to do Competition and Strategy next, which is very interesting I've heard.

I second School Experience as Breadth, really great subject.
Pls do not send me a pm about Aspire applications. The process has vastly changed since I applied.

the ones i've done are:
selective - calculus 2, principles of genetics
breadths - business law, intro microecons, finance
it depends whether you are interested in these fields though.

also heard from friends PHRM20001 and MIIM20002 are really good selectives.

Hey everyone!

I noticed that results have just been released for Semester 2 - best of luck, I hope you all receive the scores you deserve.

For those of you studying Biomedicine, I was just wondering if it was possible to study two languages as part of this degree? I'm hoping to complete a Diploma of Languages in German next year (assuming I choose to attend Melbourne Uni), but I'd also like to study either Spanish or French (haven't quite decided yet, haha).

If not, is it possible to study two languages as part of the Science pathway?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.  :)

Is it hard to get great grade in biomedicine examination? Do the exam questions each year repeat occasionally or never seem to appear ?

It is challenging. And yes they are often repeated but I wouldn't count on it.
