this is fairly subjective but what's the best club to join? (in terms of events, vibe, usefulness, skills gained etc)
I feel like the big faculty clubs like CSS, SSS etc are probably one of the best ways to meet people + they tend to have a ton of events.

Smaller/niche clubs would probably be an easier way to gain skills and leadership, and I guess because they are smaller you would build decent friendships too.

I second this. It's a Japanese place downstairs from the rest of the food court, they have rice with several options of meat or veggies in a sauce or curry. My favourites are the teriyaki tofu (the sauce is delicious), and the veggie japanese curry. $7.50 for one option, $8.50 for two options. Delicious and can't find cheaper on campus :)

That sandwich bar across from boost isn’t bad either. You can get a full chicken schnitzel sandwich with avocado and salads for less than 8 bucks.
Saigon noodle (name might have changed, but dodgy looking Asian joint near bubble cup) is also pretty good. Tastes a lot better than egg sake and only marginally more expensive

If anyone has any experience applying for and receiving an interest free student services loan, could you please inbox me? Looking to hear some advice on the process. Thanks

I asked this on the stalkerspace, but thought I'd ask for opinions here as well.

So general consensus seems to be that BCMB20002 and BCMB20005 compliment each other pretty well, right? Well, I only need to do BCMB20002 for my degree, but I was wondering if it was still worth doing BCMB20005? Will it make Biochemistry any easier, or would it just bring down my WAM?

Interested to hear your thoughts!

It is a very challenging subject, and it is certainly demanding in terms of time, but it’s also really well structured so it doesn’t feel too bad doing it.
It’s an extremely rewarding subject. You really feel as though you’re developing skills and learning a lot

Hi
Just wondering if you do the practicals in BIOL10003 and CHEM10004 by yourself or in a group?

Thanks! I appreciate the response. I've enrolled for it for semester 1, but I'm worried it might be too hard for me. How long into the semester would I have to decide?

Hi

It depends. Some chemistry practicals you will work alone and for others you will be with a partner. The only part of assessment related to group work will be the end product (you get marks for things like yield, crystal structure etc.) and the rest of your marks will come from your own work.

In biology there is usually some aspect of group work involved. Your assessment will be based upon your own skills so you don't have to worry about other people affecting your mark. The group work usually consists of between 2-6 people setting up an experiment and also working together to discuss the experiment. I really enjoyed the people I was with for biology, they were easy to deal with and made the practicals a lot of fun.

You’d get a sense in a few weeks, but with the caveat that obviously the first few weeks are more challenging than the rest because you need some time to get used to the lab

I'm both excited and worried to be going back on Monday. I'm excited because I absolutely love what I'm studying and can't wait to learn new things. At the same time though, I feel that there is a lot of content from first year that I have forgotten. I've tried revising but my memory is shocking and I can't seem to hold onto the information.

Makes me wish that the semesters were a little bit longer so that there wouldn't be as long of a break between studying.

I agree with the first part hahaha
For me that time over the break was used to really reflect on how my first year went and how I might do things differently in my second to study better and just all round experience uni better!!
I am not going in as anxious as I was 12 months ago because now I feel like I got the hang of how uni operates. Little things like knowing where I can go to get food I like, where to chill/study, the best public transport route etc really makes it easier to feel more comfortable on campus and studying. In saying that I am still nervy about managing the work load and stress I know is about to come lol

Hey friends, may be a stupid question, but does anyone know how to download lectures from the new lecture capture system?
