Generally i'd say after. Helps you consolidate all the information better.

Are we meant to be doing exercises in our own time or will we do them in the tutorials?

Always better to attempt the tute exercises before the tutorial so you know where you have gone wrong/ what questions you can't do

thanks for the reply man, so I think I will invest in it. another question.. I just transferred from one subject to another, but the LMS  doesn't allow me to view the content for the new subject i enrolled in. It says guests are not allowed? What do I do? I have transferred to microeconomics btw and I missed the lecture on Tuesday, was there a tutorial on Tuesday too?

Give it some time, it will eventually let you in. This is what happened to me at first when I changed a subject previously. If it doesn't after a day or so you should go to get help.

To people who have taken first year physics:

I'm confused about the assessment for this subject. Apparently we have a number of tests set through a system called "masteringphysics" that contribute to our overall mark. The textbook for the subject says it comes with a masteringphysics student access kit.

I have access to the textbook just don't have the masteringphysics student access kit. Is it essential that I buy the access code for masteringphysics?

Last year masteringphysics was accessed via the LMS

So yeah each week you'll just go onto the LMS, click on the masteringphysics or homework assignments link (or whatever the link is called) and just go from there.

For BIOM20001 is there a lab book etc (for pracs) that we need to buy? Don't see one listed on the LMS. Also how do we tell which group (ABCD...) we're in to tell if our pracs start on the 2nd or 3rd week?

It's all free on the LMS. From what I've heard, all of the answers to any question they may ask can be found online.

Sooo much reading.... AAAAARRGGHHH. So are we meant to memorise what we read or do we just need to understand it?

Understanding helps with memorisation. And also, when you simply rote-learn details for the purpose of an exam, you're more likely to forget them the instant the exam's over. So take the time to understand what you're learning.
The Finnish word pilkunnussija, which translates literally to “comma fucker,” is someone who risks his social wellbeing to annoyingly and persistently point out punctuation errors.

Depends on the subject. These questions are best asked and answered in your subject's tutorials. They make it quite easy to know what you need to know and what you need to be able to answer.
