Deleted User, a friendly reminder that this isn't the thread to ask your maths questions. Split into two topics and moved into the Maths board.

Anyone doing GENE20001 Principles of Genetics know where we get the tute sheets (if there are any) or is it just like the BIOM20001 where the tute's basically another lecture?

Don't think there is a hurdle requirement for Calculus 2, so you could skip them all I believe. As far as I'm aware, they only mark your attendance to see how serious you are about the subject, or as a general stat. If you get something like 47-49 at the end of the semester, and you've attended all of the tutorials, then they might push you over the line so you get a pass - at least that's what happens for the Physics tutorials in first year.

But yeah, don't quote me on it, best email the subject coordinator or your tutor.

Whatever floats your boat. Do what works for you. Some will type out pages of notes, others won't write a thing (such as myself).

Hey guys,

Does anyone know when the exam timetable comes out? I'm planning to go overseas so I gotta plan ahead. I know it happens sometime in June but where do the subjects' exam times belong usually on the timetable, especially Commerce? (i.e. at the beginning of the exam period or towards the end?)

Unfortunately they only release the exam table around like week 8/9

Pretty sure commerce subjects tend to be held early in the exam period, someone confirm this though.

Nope, it's generally high enrolment classes that are held earlier, not specific faculty's courses.

I thought commerce subjects were held around the middle - but can't be sure of the exact subjects I guess! :-/ I know psych/bio/chem tend to all be early in the exam period like even one after the other sometimes!

Also! Anyone who's done Grammar of English (LING20011), do you remember whether or not the exam was held early in the exam period?? :)

Is it possible to get a H1 if you do well on all your assessments if you don't attend any tutorials? They're so boring!!!

Not if your tutorials are a hurdle requirement (which in most cases they are, and you can only afford to miss out on 1-3 classes depending on percentage of attendance - if not, then you'll need to do extra work to pass the subject I think). I find tutorials unproductive too sometimes, but if they're hurdle you'll just need to bear them unfortunately! :)
