Then don't just read notes.  Summarise and resummarise, rephrase stuff from the slides, make diagrams or flow charts.
Do something different that requires you to process and re-evaluate the information that you're reading and you'll end up remembering it much more effectively.

out of curiosity, do you just simply memorize your notes mavisgibbons? You always get beast marks :l

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

It depends on the content!  Memorisation works for some stuff I guess 3: But other times I just try to understand a sequence of events or something and more content.
I always learn by re-summarising though.  I don't find practice exams as helpful for me, although I do do the exams.  And then I have just been writing out amino acids/glycolysis/b oxidation/whatever daily for biochem, just taking like half an hour to go through it again and again and again...

Memorisation? I feel sorry for your brain

Yes. 100% Yes. Even if you get 0 0 0 0, you'll still be able to continue.

They will let you continue, but if you fail 50% or more of your courseload for the semester (ie. 2 or more subjects), then expect an email and a letter in the mail to make an appointment with a student advisor from the Science Student Centre to discuss about your performance and strategies to improve for next semester.

Yeh, but I know a bloke who is in his 8th year of a full-time B.Eng (4 years) and he will be at the uni until mid-way next year, he's legitimately failed about 15 units in total and takes 3 units/sem. While the uni can make money off you, they'll work out a way to keep you there.

Hey guys 2 quick questions

1) How do i check where im sitting via the student portal and

2) I have a similar question to the above poster, if i fail everything im not completely screwed am i?
I really didnt do any work at all this semester and was going through some personal issues and quite frankly i even though i have tried my  best to study over the past week its too little too late.
Ill 100% be ready for next semester though and ill set my self goals and high expectations but just this semester i have pretty much already written off as a complete fail lol.

Well, I'm enjoying mine actually! But 1st Sem 1st year is a bit like that--lots of unknowns and adjustments. So long as you care about what you're studying and think you're capable of enjoying it, things on that side should improve! As far as social stuff goes, the generic advice (go to events, join clubs, make an effort to be friendly to people in tutes) is pretty good, though it still takes some time.
