^ This is true. I'm not happy with my average and I'm going to do a lot to try to improve it :P.

What sort of average would be needed for Honours in Chem, anyone?

Cheers, I know how to get in. Just curious on the GPA required. 65 is the minimum, but what would for example guarantee a place or put you on the fringeline. Mao?

While on the topic of honours, would anyone know what the cut off/a competitive mark would be for finance honours?

Does anyone know a way to get to sit your exams early, like right after the week 12 finishes?

I really want to travel to Brazil to watch the world cup but stupid exams.

Have e-mailed various people and most of them aren't budging.

I would suggest that the motivation of a head of faculty to allow you to sit exams before everybody else in order for you to go on a holiday is probably zero.

Reminds me of some friend of a friend I once talked to in first year. Booked a flight before he knew his exam timetable. It turned out he had an exam after the flight, so he tried to make sure to ace all the assessment before the exam so that he could pass.

Technically you are also told to not plan any trips before the exam period finishes (even when you know your exams are done) because there may be some surprise exam or supplementary exam which the university is within their rights to organize spontaneously or something like that.

Brilliant haha. And then there are those people who do SFA for assessments and rely on the exam to pass.

There's got to be ways around this though. I know of someone being scared of failing, missing their exam and then e-mailing the lectuerer simply saying, 'I slept in because I was really tired' and they got to sit a supplementary.

Being nice and giving someone a supp so they don't fail the subject is not the same thing as letting someone sit the exam before everybody else though. You might be able to convince all four of your subject coordinators to let you do it, but I wouldn't be holding my breath.
