This is going to start mean but my friend has started doing it too, every semester he makes a point of picking up some kind of simpak trait to try and match my grades (openly, I'm not just making this up/being conceited, although I will admit to being conceited) but he's gone even more haywire than me and sometimes I'm staring at him like 'are you writing down every time he says "um" WHAT CAN THERE POSSIBLY BE TO WRITE RIGHT NOW'?

I actually do that too if I'm not scrabbling to keep up with the content, if only to make re-scribing the notes a little less boring. Reading notes is a little more fun when a spiel on Mark Elgar's infatuation with Melissa and lions pops up in the middle of plant tissue function.

Get 20 flashcards and put name/structure/codon of an amino acid on each and just the name on the flipside
Then every day, take one extra flashcard (ie start with one and go upwards), having to draw them out on scrap paper and write their single letter code at random.
Takes 20 days but you'll know them at the end ;P

Lmao I put a picture of the amino acid structures on my laptop and went over them on the train. Like 5 per day drawing them in the air. Easier if you base them on what they are. Eg: you know an acidic aa is going to have COOH somewhere and you just gotta work out wtf the rest is.

I learnt my amino acids 2 days before my biochemistry exam. My friend and I booked a project room at Brownless. We looked at the lecture slides for 1 minute and we drew and wrote the name/letter of as many amino acids as we could on the whiteboards until we couldn't do it anymore. We then corrected each others work with the lecture slides. Each round a person would win or lose. We played until we both drew :)

I would write them out every two days (name, structure, one letter) within the time it took to listen to Justin Timberlake's 'What Goes Around Comes Around'.  First few times looking at the slides, then abandoning the slides and just checking over my work and correcting the mistakes, then it was second nature.  And, in the exam, I would just be like 'hey guuuurl, is he everything u wanted in a mannnnn' and it all poured onto the page.

Seriously though, I typically practice rote learning things (this, metabolism) with a song of a suitable length because it pushes you to recall things as quickly and efficiently as possible.  I guess timing yourself to do it within x minutes would be helpful too but less fun.

Does anyone know for PATH20001 (exploring human disease):

-It says there are CAL/Tutorial worksheets put up the week before the scheduled workshop. I can't find these on the LMS, and my tutorial is on Monday. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Thanks!!

Hancock's (first) weekly advice about overloading: Finish everything the week it's given. Anything delayed is gonna bite you in the ass when mid-sems come around.
