I'm sorry to keep on posting in here over and over, but Dawn keeps bombarding us with specific examples of genetic disorders and I was wondering if a second/third-year could please tell me whether she puts questions on the MST or exam about all these disorders, because it's getting a little confusing trying to figure out what's there to help explain a point and what's there because it's assessable ;u;

Memory of it = none.
Do you mean when talks about albinism and stuff like that?  From memory all you would need to know is that it's recessive autosomal.  And colourblindness, know it is X linked recessive etc etc.  So like, knowing the pattern of inheritance should be enough?
Sometimes I think she just uses them to help illustrate a point like polydactyly and how that is used.

Reading your posts about Dawn and knowing that in three weeks time she'll be our lecturer for the rest of the semester...oh shit.

She's a good lecturer, she's just demoralising :')
I think you'll like her, though I know some of my friends complain endlessly about her lectures because they don't want to use supplementary sources.

I got a 97 in BIOL10005, and I didn't memorize a lot of the disorders. You sort of come across things like sickle cell anaemia and colour blindness etc. when doing those practice questions she puts up on the LMS and even the questions in the prac book. They were really really really helpful, but if I had to do the subject again I would do it as soon as she releases them and not 3 days before the exam. :P

Dawn is probably the best lecturer I've had so far. And she is really cute too.

Edit: I wrote/ typed all my notes and examples for Biol and that may have helped. But I just went through my notes for that subject and I've highlighted things like Duschenne Muscular Dystrophy etc. You don't have to know all the details of the disorder just that it is an example of "blah blah blah", like simpak said.

I know some of my friends complain endlessly about her lectures because they don't want to use supplementary sources.

But I don't want to use supplementary sources!

Nah, should be good! I've decided to convince myself that I want to major in genetics, which should probably help me convince myself to actually put some effort into it, regardless of whether I actually want to do that.
Use the same thing in VCE. "righto, I'll be a doctor". Was just a handy goal to do well, but now I'm getting closer and closer to it actually happening and haven't decided what the hell else to do. Oops.

She'll give you a list of the disorders you are expected to know and what not about them later in the year. In terms of the exam for our year, it had practically none asking us to cough up such information however.
