If I do all the subjects for an engineering systems major but choose to major in something else am I still eligible for Masters in Engineering?

I think you'll find this isn't possible (to be eligible for the 2 year Masters). To do an Eng Systems major plus a different (non-Eng) major would mean 10 Level 3 subjects plus all their prerequisites. It's not possible to fit in a study plan. But provided you fulfil the maths and science and 65% average requirements, you will still be eligible for the 3 year Eng Masters no matter what you major in.

You can, you can do up to 10. Either you're missing something on your study plan or you should contact your student center and they can do it manually for you.

Yes you would, but what else would you major in? And it'll look weird as on a resume saying B.Sci (random), M.E (Mech).
I really want to major in maths (pure specialisation) because it is an interest of mine but also want to to do 2 years Masters Eng. I know that UoM doesnt recognise double majors so I thought it would be quite a waste to not major in it instead of Mechanical Systems (since an engineering systems major by itself doesn't hold much merit but a maths degree does right?)

If you're going to do the M.E anyway, you're "engineering major" in your BSci doesn't really matter. I just reckon it'll be better majoring in the Eng and knowing that you majored in Maths.

Either way, I'd write on my resume that I double majored because you technically satisfied the requirements for both majors.

No it's not; your student centre will be able to sort out these things up until the census date (like the end of March next year for Sem 1). Just fill the slot with a random subject for now and go see them when you get the opportunity =)

one thing i dont understand is why do you need to fill in 8 subjects now but you can change them up until march (the census date) whats the point of that?

It at very least gives them an idea of how to timetable classes and what numbers to expect.

You champion, thank you so much for the links! And that is awesome, congrats. I should have had the foresight to do that a couple of months ago, seeing as a fellow freshman just received the opportunity to help out as a research assistant.  >:( >:( (Soooo happy for her >:(.)

No worries! It also took me a while to figure out these programs anyway. In my case nevertheless the hero really is the supervisor for being willing to take a student in the midst of his busyness haha. I hope you get your project next year ;D

Wow, I can't believe you can take 10 Level 3 subjects.  You would have needed to fulfil a lot of prerequisites through your VCE and stuff.  If you had to start with, like, Calculus 1 and Fundamentals of Chemistry and stuff then there's no way there's be room in your study plan for 10 Level 3 subjects.  That would be so awesome though, I wish I was in a position to do that.
