What? but I thought the sample course structures for the BA allowed you to do this :S (at least if you're majoring in psychology)
http://ba.unimelb.edu.au/about/course-structure
The sixth one. Also, how is it that you can place it on one of the elective slots? Where does it allow you to swap the position to the 'elective or arts discipline' slot when they automatically place it under the slot labelled "BAMAJ-PSYCL2 - Psychology Level 2 Subjects"
btw I can't seem to select cognitive psychology on the electives or arts discipline - it doesnt appear
Annnddd (sorry or always asking).... what do we do with subjects automatically selected for us when we select a major? Let's say im supposed to be enrolling in my second year subjects, but my 3rd year subjects also pop up since they are "compulsory". - If I enrol into them now, it means that I'll be taking them next year right? So do we just leave them lying on the study plan or what?
Sorry and thanks in advance!
EDIT:

Thanks for the reply, LeviLamp and hobbitle!! Though, it seems that even when i unenrol from Cognitive psych, i cannot reenrol in my breadth slot; I might have to ask yearningforsimplicity about this then, thanks again!
Heyy!
The psych major structure is really weird! In fact, I only *kind of* understood it after a course advisor told me a little bit about it but even now I'm still confused! haha I too tried putting some psych (elective/breadth) subjects for next year into arts discipline positions but that didn't work! My guess is psych majors can't take psych subjects as Arts Discipline or there might be a cap on how many credit points of psych a psych major can do?!

Also, for your Psych electives (basically your psych breadth subjects), you need to select 2 for your third year (and these 2 subjects count towards your actual uni BREADTH subjects - meaning that you only have 4 more breadth subjects to do in total; as your psych electives will take the place of 2 breadths)
Also, if you're doing the psych major, the study plan sort of locks you into this structure where (since cog psych is a core psych subject - every psych major takes it), it is in its own place under the category "psychology core level 2 subjects" and you can't really move it into a breadth/elective position

And it isn't possible to take cog psych as an elective I think! There are a list of level 3 psych electives you can do and those are optional (as you get to choose which ones you do and they're not core subjects) - in fact as mentioned before, these level 3 psych electives are what are represented as Psychology Breadth on that example 6 from the course structure link

So for psych breadths, you have to choose out of a list (and cog psych is not included on that list). These are the subjects (of which 2) can form your psych breadths:
-> Trends in Personality and Social Psychology
-> Applications in Psychology
-> Development of the Thinking Child
-> Perception, Memory and Cognition
-> Neuroscience and the Mind
-> Psychology of Sleep and Emotions
-> Psychopathology and Everyday Life
-> Social and Emotional Development
-> The Unconscious Mind
I hope that makes sense (I feel like I may have made this 10x more confusing LOL)! Also, with your third year core subjects (i think you're talking about the research methods and psychological science core units), you don't need to enrol in them now unless you're actually doing them next year (which isn't the case)
Basically in a nutshell: core units can't be taken as breadth if you're doing a psych major (or if you're an arts/science student) because 1) psychology is a discipline in both arts/science but it can be taken as breath by biomed/commerce/music/environments students because they don't have the psych major/discipline in their courses and 2) because there's a list of subjects that can specifically be taken as breadths and they're the Level 3 Psych Electives I've listed above - and if you're doing the psych major, basically your study plan reserves spots for the core units like cognitive psych and those core units don't really budge

With your psych breadth subjects, you needn't do them both in 3rd year - and if you feel you want to/can do one of them in 2nd year to easen the load you can do that

I actually did that with Psychopathology of Everyday Life this semester
