Personally, it depends on the subject. For chemistry I tend to hand write my summaries so I can draw things out, for everything else I much prefer to type. I also share all my Biomed notes with the biomeds. This makes sure that I keep on time and also means that I the register I use for my notes changes a bit, so that I'm explaining everything out properly rather than just writing it to myself. This is a huge bonus when I come back and look at them later in the semester (by which time I have no clue what the hell we did). Also would like to hope that some of them do actually get something out of my notes. I also try to help people out with questions that they post or whatnot, or if they inbox me (pretty sure I only passed maths last year because I had, quite honestly, 10 of the same people asking for help with the assignments each week). That probably looks like I'm just trying to show what a top notch bloke I think I am, but I really hope you don't take it that way because it is legitimately a good way to study (a few have already said how worthwhile it is to explain things) and at the end of the day it helps other people out as well. A win-win I think!
For things like genetics though, definitely just lots of questions and trying to nut through the ridiculously difficult questions that we're given (quite a challenge when they at best only slightly relate to the lecture content, at worst having nothing to do with it). And for Spanish it's just about practising by myself, make sure I do a bit of reading and also go meme searching in Spanish (laughing and study, it's good!) and keep up with all the activities (which I haven't done either, mainly because they make me feel pretty dopey because we're not covering much of the content in class).
