The BA ATAR is getting a bit out of hand...

2009 - 88.30

2010 - 89.00

2011 - 88.00

2012 - 90.90

2013 - 91.40

2014 - 92.35 - 36.28% of applicants were below this.

It could really go either way for 2015, but it wouldn't surprise me if it went into the 93 range.

Compare to the other Go8 schools it's insanely high.

Monash - 83.05
USyd - 82
UWA - 80
ANU - 80
UNSW - 78
UQ - 72.25
UoA - 65
As demand increases, i guess the cut offs have to as well. Just look at biomed, you have to get a 99 now to be clearly in...

Having done a couple Arts subjects as breadth (both SCRN) I can somewhat see why. They've both been extremely well taught, well devised (in terms of content and assessment) and well organised.

Feel free to shoot me a PM pertaining to getting to M.Eng through the Environments course, or the Envs/Eng courses in general.

I've started studying for two of my subjects. I just start each subject according to their date on the exam timetable, making sure I allow a day for each lecture e.g. my muscle & exercise exam is on the 19th of june so i'll start studying for that on the 15th of may or something as I have 33 lectures to cover

That is a great idea. Up until now I thought it would be a good idea to leave it until SWOTVAC. Although, if I take on your idea, I'm basically already "behind" in all my core subjects. XD

I do the same as El. That way you've got the stuff from early in the semester back in your mind, connecting it back with what you've learned more recently. Then for swotvac you can concentrate on trial questions, practise exams - the bigger picture,

for example do u think it is a good idea to study a combination of them each day, or finish one and then start the other?
(micro is in the morning and anatomy exam in afternoon.)

Litaluta, just study micro every morning and anatomy every afternoon. Come exam time your brain will be in full swing :D

Edit:

Is anyone doing Chemistry 1, or Chemistry: Reactions and Synthesis? If so, please PM me

I remember in first year I was able to balance note summaries & revision, i'm sure it's entirely possible.

Read notes on the train if you can - I find I have nothing else to do.

And also mix things up - write your own MCQs and get friends to quiz you.

(That said I write my notes and then neglect to read them until like maybe a week before an MST/exam)

Leaving revision until SWOTVAC is still okay though. You have an entire week to revise for your exam, which is plenty of time in first year. But if you're only learning the course for most of that week then it's going to be pretty tough

Yeah I totally get that places are demand driven, it's just crazy how in-demand Arts at unimelb is. As a non-science person I don't really understand why Biomed is so high and has so few spots compared with regular Science, because as far as I can tell all the Biomed majors can be done in Science anyway.
Differences/similarieties b/w biomed and science is a topic that many wars have been fought over. Blood has been spilled, tears have been shed and it still goes on to this very day

The uni decided to fix my 3 x Tuesday 10th June exams by moving the only easy one to 8:30 the following day. This really helps, thanks, UoM!!! I think I'd legitimately prefer to have three in a row.

Maybe the Clearly In has increased as people become less skittish about the semi-recent Melbourne Model?

Apparently when I graduate, the ribbon of my gown will be 'olive green', for BSc.

I do not care, I am showing up in 'petunia'. Sorry, schools of health sciences and behavioural sciences.

Still refers to Biomed as Biomedical science....May be slightly outdated. Even so i shall not wear olive green! Why do arts get blue? I want blue  >:( :(
