Lel don't buy any uni books. The lecture notes should be sufficient.

This was the best advice given to me when I started uni half a year ago, saved me a ton of cash.

How about the Physics 2 book you said in your review?

Since 1st year physics is rather poorly taught, having a book is very nice as a reference (also due to the fact that the lecture notes are pretty lacklustre).
That's how I felt about Physics: Fundamentals anyway...

Chuck a PM if interested :)

Available for tutoring on the summer holidays for university subjects or VCe.
Also tutoring for the Melbourne uni MMIs (medical/physiotherapy interviews)

Please don't PM me for lecture slides or recordings. I don't have them anymore.

If you're enthusiastic about the field, and think the book will be a useful reference outside the scope and/or duration of the course, it's often worth buying the textbook, money permitting (ha ha ha money is never permitting). I think this applies more to very fact-based fields where experience can only get you so far and reading endless amounts of papers doesn't fill in your gaps in foundation knowledge, but it's still worth checking out the texts if it's something you're passionate about.

Maybe no one has noticed (why it matters idk), but the link to Data Analysis (MAST10010) review is broken. Probably deleted by reviewer.

Will get on it as soon as I'm done making dinner. Also, I'm thinking of going through the reviews and fixing up any formatting issues etc.

I know that some people might be uncomfortable having someone else edit their posts, so does anyone have any objections?

The consensus the last time this was asked was not to edit review posts unless there was something objectionable

The difference, though, was that last time the editing was unannounced. I'll take your post as an objection, does anyone else object?

Just had a look, the reviewer deleted the review for some reason. I won't restore it unless the reviewer approves doing so, and given that the person hasn't been online for a long time, I've decided just to remove it from the index as well.

Only problem is, that means that there's another missing review :/

Edit: Found it haha

Sorry to butt in with an unrelated dilemma, but I was hoping for some advice :s

Spoiler
So, when I first tried to enrol in my D-LANG, I was called by a woman from the Faculty of Arts who told me they disliked accepting first-year students into the diploma, and that I should cross-credit my first two subjects from breadth (German 1 and 2) into the D-LANG. I told her that I didn't want to cross-credit, because I wanted space for breadth subjects in my degree, but she told me it wasn't something she would let me do without a good reason (there's no university policy preventing a student from starting the diploma in first year, and no indication this is unusual on the page for the course, or in the sample course plans). I was timid and gave in, and promptly forgot I wanted my breadth spaces to take Intensive Latin over summer (because it's extremely useful in biological taxonomy, which is something I'd like to do in the future). I just realised I can no longer do this, because of the four breadth spaces I had set aside to use at the start of 2013, two are occupied by German 1 and 2 (and one by a Lv1 linguistics class I really don't want to drop); the intensive class is worth 25 points, but I only have 12.5 :( I was wondering if anyone who's taking/has taken a concurrent diploma thinks there's any possibility the student centre would be able to transfer German 1 and 2 from my science degree over to my diploma, especially since I never intended (initially) to cross-credit my German subjects, or if cross-crediting cannot be undone. I'd imagine it's administratively possible to alter the study plans, but I'm not sure if they'd be willing to and I'm freaking out. The websites say nothing on the matter, and I'm afraid the same woman will be who I end up contacting (she was pretty frightening).
Sorry for the weird question, maybe I just need someone to convince me to investigate ahahahaha

I tried to go the opposite way. Take subjects from my degree and then put them on a Dip-Lang and they wouldn't do that. Apparently they can't. With that said, they didn't exactly try very hard so there may be a tiny bit of hope...

Intensive Latin apparently is quite a tough ride, so perhaps it may be a good idea just to do Latin 1? You don't really get a whole lot of vocab from the classical language courses in the first year. It's just really full on grammar.
