Open Day Guides interviews started today woohoo. There are ~150 spots and 600 people applied, so don't worry if you don't slip in. Apparently they pass your name onto your faculty for other volunteer positions. They're about 20 minutes long and an estimated dozen students per a group interview.

1. They ask for your name/year level/degree

2. They'll ask one question to each student in the room. They were questions like, "What subject are you looking forward to this semester?" "What have you learnt from university?" Mine was, "Which building is your favourite on campus?" I was like...uh...this one...

3. You'll each be given a map and a card which shows a scenario where someone wants to get from point A to point B. Using the map, you articulate instructions on how to get there. It's similar to this http://mupolo.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/Melb-Uni-Map-Beaurepaire-Centre.jpg I guess using landmarks and describing buildings would be useful. I was supposed to direct someone to College Crescent, but I don't think it was actually listed on the map bahaha. So I just directed them to the cluster of colleges at the top.

Has anyone done Food for a Healthy Planet II  (Level 2) https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/view/2014/UNIB20014    I tried to find reviews on it on AN, but they're all level 1 versions of the subject.

I did a quick review on this thread somewhere, but the short version is: easy (you're allowed a cheat sheet in the exam), but once they go over the interesting topics in the first few weeks you're stuck in boring lectures on food economics for 7 weeks. If you're into that stuff, then cool, but I wouldn't recommend it. The bad lecture topics outweighed how easy it was.

I have the worst timetable :(   8am lectures (no chance im going) and one class on monday. This is bs. NO wonder why im failing uni. People who live close to uni are so lucky. Its so draining getting a packed train to uni then getting on a packed tram then coming home it sucks. Anyone else know this feel?

I was stuck with an 8am psych tute for half of last semester so I totally get how you feel! Just get proper sleep and have some reading material/music and hopefully it won't be as bad :)

I travel from Geelong and had three 8am starts each week for all of last year. Some of my days finished as late as 6. You've just got to make the effort to go and quite frankly, just to suck it up. It is shit, it is unfair but you've gotta make the best of it.
