Today I read a post stating:

"The rules governing the Bachelor of Science degree include a maximum allowance of 3 first year maths/statistics subjects, that is, 37.5 100 level credit points. This means, you can only include 3 of MAST10005 Calculus 1, MAST10006 Calculus 2, MAST10007 Linear Algebra and MAST10010 Data Analysis 1 in your course plan."

I'm currently enrolled in Calculus 2 and Data Analysis, having already taken Calculus 1 in semester 1, and I was planning on taking Linear Algebra in the summer. Kinda freaking out at the moment.

Do you think there is any way to by-pass this requirement and take all, or is there no chance of being allowed to do so?

Unenrol in Data Analysis and take Linear Algebra this semester. Otherwise, take Linear Algebra over the summer as a CAP subject (full fee ~$3000 total).

Thanks you for the advice, Hancock. Do you know if selection in a CAP subject is automatic, assuming prerequisites are filled? If so, I think I'm leaning towards that option.

I forgot, are lecture recordings uploaded the day they're recorded or the next day?

I heard the ESD2 lecture today was really entertaining and I didn't go to it :(

Depends on the subject entirely I believe, my maths lecturer last semester used to upload recordings early as 20 minutes after the end of a lecture, whilst one of the accounting lecturers once uploaded the lecture 2 days later.

Buskes is cool and he's the only good lecturer out of the three (if they are same as last year). So go to his.

Considering a change of major.... AGAIN.  Or rather... investigating my honours options if I stick with my current major.
Speaking of, does anyone know anything about this?  If you do an honours year does it need to be in exactly the same area in which you majored?  Presumably so... just wanted to check.
EDIT: Never mind, found this http://bsc.unimelb.edu.au/sites/all/themes/unimelb/downloads/BSc-Hon.pdf ... was just being lazy.

It's all automated. The only thing it depends on is the capacity of the network and subsequently the length of the lecture (i.e. a 1 hour lecture will be online faster than a 2 hour one). If your lecture on at a odd time (e.g. 8am start or a 7:15pm finish) it will be uploaded faster than at a more common time because there will be less strain on the network.

The lecturer's themselves have nothing to do with it unless they elect to manually start or finish the recording earlier or later, which is pretty rare.

But usually a lecture is online no later than an hour after the recording finishes.

Ahh thanks for clearing that up.

To answer your question anyway ... you'd have to check with the department. If they're in related fields (e.g. biochemistry and pharmacology) and you've done coursework in the other discipline, but no major, you'd have a shot.

But really, it comes down to the department and the supervisor.
