^what's protein structure like?

It's good. Unsurprisingly, it's pretty hardcore biochemistry.

Paul's section was pretty hardcore thermo (probably the most hardcore thermo I've done outside of chem,) and it's taken me a while to get my head around it. Still really interesting though.

Terry's section is a lot more straightforward.

Still got a bit of work to do before the midsem in a few weeks...

Do you know where one may be able to, shall we say, acquire some lecture notes for it.......?

^what's protein structure like?

haha im a bad person to ask, ive been to no lectures all semester and have so far only watched 5... (hoping ill be up to date by next week? ; n ;)
i havent started on terrys stuff yet, but gooleys content (first 6 lectures) has been pretty alright. with that said, there is some pretty "whoa whaat" stuff on nmr, but i doubt we're actually expected to know it. eg. he mentioned applying a fourier transform at one point, and i'm pretty sure the bulk of the proteins cohort hasn't done math past first year if that even

Do you know where one may be able to, shall we say, acquire some lecture notes for it.......?
youre free to pm me for notes/links to the echo

HAHA that's so shit. Ross Waller pretty much started every explanation with "I don't expect you to remember this but...". It was all just "principles" with him.

Sounds like a fantastic program. Damn, makes me envious of all the eng students who get such an opportunity.

This is great. The lack of industry experience was probably the biggest drawback of Eng at Melbourne compared to RMIT and others, so it's great that they have addressed it. Definitely something for me to think about for next year. 400+ hour commitment seems a lot for only two subjects worth of credit though.

(edit: On the last point, just realised pretty much all post-grad eng subjects have 200 hour time commitment. :o)

^^ yes they upped it from 120 to 160 for undergrad and most postgrad are like 180 I think. I've watched my best friend go through the Mech Eng masters. It is no mean feat from a time management POV.

Try snagging one of the couches in the commerce library, they're really comfy and perfect for lying down(provided you're not too tall!). There are some of them on the ground and first floor in the library.
