I feel kind of bad for not doing any study during holidays. I don't get how people have so much work to do. All the assignments and tests already finished???

I had a test every week from week 6-9 and there were 3 other assignments/tests also due in week 9. So, I had to neglect watching many of my lectures and writing notes to compensate. I have another test in week 12 for one of my subjects (which is fine because i'll be revising for that subject anyway) and then my behemoth 50% 2000 word assignment due in swotvac. Gosh i've missed atarnotes over the last week to complain about everything related to uni.

I managed to get on top of all my lectures and prac reports by Tuesday so I started off reading some books I bought at the start of the year that I never got round to.  Now off studying for an MST in a week's time.

One more MST and only two prac reports until final exams and then homg 2/3rds of the way through my degree...

There's nothing at all wrong with having a break - it's going to be an intense couple of weeks for everyone so you want to go into it refreshed. It's times like this that I really wish Melbourne went back to having a two week break - you could have a break and get some work done, while with a one week break, you can only really do one. I get that it works for the academics, but I don't think they consulted any students before they moved back to a one-week break in 2013.

I got my 4000 word report and my 2500 breadth essay/assignment done (or at least a first draft.) Both aren't due until exams, but I've got everything due in the first week so I want to have them well out of the way before then. Especially the breadth essay - I'm enjoying the subject, but at the end of the day, I don't to sacrifice a good mark in my science subject for it.

I probably should have done/should be dong summaries for my subjects though.

I seem to have a habit where I work during breaks and basically do nothing during work time.

e.g. dozing off/drawing pictures in my planner every day at school in year 12, but spending nearly all my waking hours at home working ahead of the class,
or dodging tutes and lectures during weeks 1-9 this semester, and crunching down over the break, with the intention of going back to doing nothing from monday until swotvac

If I count my tests/assignments left to hand in there's 1 (IT project) + 3 (japanese test/essay/speech) + 3 (weekly physics) + 2 (maths assignments)

I've never been very good at maths, but I think that adds up to unhappiness :'(

The break's only been gone since 2013, Stick :'(

Joining the complain train:
I have a German oral presentation and a 4000 word report worth only 20% due in Week 11, a LING assignment, Botany prac test, German journal and German 20% writing test (both moved up a week for some reason @A@) in Week 10, and an Ecology manual, Botany herbarium and a German listening test crammed into Week 12 >:I. At least my SWOTVAC this semester is nine days longer than last semester, I definitely need the extra time.

Good luck getting things done, everyone :)

(honestly, you don't reeeeeeally need them, they're just a crutch for not working efficiently during the semester/year. but that may be the stockholm syndrome talking. please give me my break back UoM)

Just curious - does anyone know why the mid sem break is so late this semester? I haven't been able to track down an answer :(

I believe it was to accommodate for unigames

That'd explain Monash's late break as well. Though it really bothers me because unigames are great and everything but after 9 weeks of full-on class I'm feeling pretty burnt out and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

The break was this late last year as well. The week after week 9.

To be honest, I thought the reason was so it coincides with the school holidays, giving families some time to spend altogether. Not really sure though.
