I love memorising, but I think I will major in cell biology. I guess if the marks are high, like mostly H1, no matter what major u have u will get into med or watev u want. But for example my marks are mostly h2b, so I should choose a major that at least lands me on a small job in case I did not get into any kind of master degree : )

Will I see you in Concepts in Cell/Dev Bio, Molecular Aspects of Cell Bio, and/or Dev Bio?

Hi, I had 2 questions.

If I'm planning on doing a summer semester and 4 subjects next semester, do I need to contact someone, because it's considered overloading?

Also, the Handbook says that I need to do "At least 75 points at Level 3" does this include breadths?

I had a similar problem where the portal wouldnt let register for a winter subject and i thought it was because of overloading but the student centre said it is not classified as overloading unless you do more than 4 subjects during the semester.

I am pretty sure you do not have to do a level 3 breadth unless you want to

Thanks for the response

The handbook says that you need to do a minimum of 6 level 3 subjects (of which 4 must be part of your major). It also says you need to do a minimum of 1 level 2 or 3 breadth subject.

I was wondering if I do a level 3 breadth subject and my 4 majors, and a level 3 science subject, would that cover the minimum 6 level 3 subjects or not?

Hope that made sense

Don't think so mate. You need at least 75 points in Lvl 3 science (6X Lvl3 science).

Ugh, I was actually looking forward to MCB until you said this - it's most likely going to determine my major. I really despise mindless rote-learning. =_=

MCB is fairly well hated by Biomeds, although there are certainly some who absolutely love it. It's really well run though and everything just works because of the coordinator, so it's definitely a manageable challenge, especially compared to the disaster that is HSF.

I hated it during it (mainly because too much work alongside HSF) but on reflection, and particularly after studying overseas, MCB one of the best subjects I've taken to date. The amount you learn that becomes applicable in a vast array of subjects is amazing. <3 MCB.
