Yikes....just looked at the timetables for my subjects...are 2nd/3rd yr lecture times always this bad?  :o Looks like I'll be spending my Friday afternoons....sitting in a Probability lecture, lol.

You definitely get less flexibility then in earlier years.

Some second and third year classes have only one lecture option, so the timetabling system automatically enrolls you in it.

Hmm has anyone done Physics 1 (PHYC10003)? Thinking of doing it as breadth in BCom purely because I enjoyed VCE Physics but there's only one review on the review thread and I could really use some more insight :)

I have a question about staggered class registraion.  With the 10% of class registration reserved for the 20th is that 10% of all classes for a particular subject or is it 10% of the seats available for each class within a subject?

Nope, not at all. You could do none in first, two in second. Two in second, none in first. None at all for the entire year if you wanted. I, as one example, didn't do any breadths in the 1st semester of my second year, then did two breadths in my final semester in third year.

It doesn't matter how you take the subjects, only that you fulfil the requirements of your course as it is laid out in the handbook and manifested on the study plan.

The problem with going a little bit off the beaten path is that you may run into trouble with prerequisites, so make sure you've mapped out your study plan pretty well beforehand.
I'm not sure if this is different for other courses but we were told that for bsc you only have to do four breadth subjects which means in first year you don't have to do any. This is so science students can try things out before picking a major, but things might vary.

Thanks guys! That's what I thought, but study plan seems to be forcing me to do two anyway:
Spoiler
The whole thing is segmented so that my eighth subject HAS to be another breadth. Is there a way around that via the website? Or will I have to make a visit to the student centre to get it sorted?  :-\

If I remember from last year correctly it was 10% of the seats within each class. Eg 2 per tutorial

which of these do I refer to for accurate planned subject times?

https://sws.unimelb.edu.au/2015/ or https://sis.unimelb.edu.au/cgi-bin/subjects.pl

SIS doesn't work for 2015 subjects so use SWS.

Looks like you get automatically registered into single repeat classes now. Progress.

(Image removed from quote.)

Much dependence on Lectopia next semester.

Additionally it seems registration times are staggered - first year subjects at 8am, second and third year subjects at 2pm. Woohoo, I can keep sleeping in! Poor first years though... :( Maybe not a bad thing for the Biomed students though, given the 8am lectures. They'll have to get used to that. :P

Given all the Biomed lectures are only one repeat, you should be able to see those in your timetable.

Glad Unimelb has taken steps towards a more efficient registration day, especially after what happened last semester. Hepefully now it won't take 2 hours to get into the system.  :P

For all the shit we give to the IT department at least it seems as though they're addressing our concerns now.

Maaaaate I'd kill for this timetable

It's what happens there are no practicals in any of the subjects...:D

Unfortunately the second semester is not going to be as lenient.

Ok thank god, I was thinking it was something along the lines of one class for each i.e. (one tut class, one lecture,  one lab) because that would be really annoying to timetable.

Anyone else doing something similar?

Wake up 8 am, register in subject, go back to sleep.
Wake up 11 am, go to work, take lunch break at 2pm, register other subjects on phone.

That would probably be my schedule if I did a level 1 subject, haha. What 1st year subject are you doing?

Hopefully this isn't the case for level 2 subjects also taken at level 1, like languages
