OMGGGGG NOOOO WAYYY this entire time I thought this would be impossible at UoM. The world is truly a beautiful place god bless.

I'd love to do one Asian language and one European language. I've already selected Chinese, so for the latter I'm going to pick between French and Italian

NONONONONO DO ITALIAN TRUST ME

It's the closest modern language to Latin, meaning a good grounding in Italian makes picking up other Romance languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French) really really easy. Not to mention Italian itself is a pretty easy language to pick up if European languages are your thing. I guess the language's downfall is the lack of countries that use it compared to the others mentioned, but given you're in the Parkville/Carlton precinct it's always useful if you want special treatment from all the Italian institutions nearby ^_^. The staff are absolutely brilliant and the workload is deliberately kept manageable and the assessment marked nicely because they know many people do it as a breadth subject.

Has anyone else found that when they email the PTV Concession Form, there's no attachment? :/

Further to this, have you received your student card yet? I believe that needs to happen first.

Yep already got my student card. I've emailed them just in case it's a glitch or something.
Pls do not send me a pm about Aspire applications. The process has vastly changed since I applied.

Is it true that if you're not going to the SSS camp then it's seriously difficult to make friends, OR is this just a bullshit rumour spread to persuade people to attend the camp? :')

ALSO, during O-week is it easy to make friends? Or is it common for people to just walk around alone for it's entirety? 'Cause I feel like heaps of first years will already know each other, and then there's just me from a random school.  :P

It's a bullshit rumour. Everyone's really lovely the first few weeks in particular. Everyone introduces themselves and actively tries to make friends. I think you of all people will be fine Katie :p

You're allocated into groups on the first day.

Heaps of jaffys will be in the same position as you, so as long as you turn up to the first few lectures you're bound to meet new friends.

Fantastic :) Do I need to register anywhere...? Because there are like 2500 Bsc students this year LOL, but according to UMSU all science students meet their host at 9:45am? Seems like it'd be...claustrophobic to say the least  :P

I hate third years.

But seriously, everyone really is lovely. There are plenty of opportunities to meet people. Personally, most of my friends initially came from Biol prac—you get a seating plan so you're essentially forced to make friends (which is the right way to do it!). The other big friend source for me was my breadth subject. As everyone is tired of hearing now, I did Spanish, and in that (and other languages) you're with the same group all semester, so you do get to know most people in the class and, you know, bond and all that :D

There's a portal thing that tells you what your group is. You'll get details about that soon, about where to meet and who is in your group etc.

Me too now, me too.

Yes! I've always secreted loved seating plans for that exact purpose. Yay for my obscure breadth (Medieval plague, war and heresy)!

Sweet! Thank you :)
