By the way, how's the PhD going? What is it like so far?

Like someone has removed and is beginning to mince each of my internal organs one at a time.

Fantastic, sounds like you're totally enjoying it.  ::)

Is it pretty much like your honours year but on a much more intensive scale? I'm still pretty clueless about doing research in general lol

Subjective and difficult to gauge, naturally. It's not too hard providing the revision habits are solid.

Put in the hard yards now and you'll have a good idea what it takes to average 75% once you get semester 1 results.

Currently doing BCom - Acc/fin (first year) but thinking about majoring in something else. Thoughts on eco/fin? Are the topics in economics during first year covered again in future years but on a different level or is it just different content altogether?

It's achievable if you work hard and study effectively. Certainly doesn't require the level of neuroticism that a lot of people around here (erm, myself included I guess) have about their marks.

Has anyone ever tried to renew library items online? I am trying but nothing seems to display and I can't get my borrowing history to show even though I borrowed something today. Any ideas?

For econ, the material in later years is an extension of what you learn in 1st year and there's also more maths in later years.

GEMSAS guide is out for all you people who are applying!

Looks like average scores for an interview actually went down from 6.7 GPA and 67 GAMSAT to 6.6 GPA and 67 GAMSAT. Weird.

Always wondered about what the GAMSAT score meant...confuses the hell outta me when people are talking about a single number. Does a GAMSAT of 67 indicate some sort of percentile rank?

Yeh it's an indication --> last year 67 for gamsat AU was ~90 percentile (top 10%).
