Oh god, I can only imagine what sitting through 6 lectures of genomics would be like. We obviously would've gone in less detail because  the tl;dr for our lecture was just "computers are smart and do everything for us".

Weird thing is that we really didn't go into any more detail... that's why I was like "oh fuck" when I saw the slides from yours hahah

Well Steve just sent me an email saying he's "considering ways" to ensure those who wanted to learn today are not disadvantaged by the loss of the class. I have no idea how this can happen - I can only predict an optional make-up class *maybe* being run, in addition to getting a stern telling off from Alex to try and scare the shit out of us. Maybe it will last a week if we're lucky.

Yeah that is gonna be tricky... Not really Alex's role to go yelling at people; I mean, no one in Uni should have to do that

Is this the 2nd year biomed cohort causing these issues?

Your best resource is (arguably) review articles as well - particularly follow up on ones that he's highlighted in the lectures. That said, they won't ask about anything that's not explicitly mentioned in the slides (unless they've said something to the effect of 'the contents of this article is examinable.')

What is this guy lecturing on, anyway? I think he's new

Intro to signalling, application - transcriptomics and signalling, cell death 1 and 2, application - studying apoptosis.

marie bogoyevitch is probably the best lecturer in the subject, she speaks clearly. And tells you the level of detail you need to know for exam

Wait I don't get how it's the rep's fault...

He just went up to the microphone and told people to go and get breakfast. No attempt to try and rectify the issue whatsoever. I told him that's not good enough but he said there's no point trying and shrugged me off. As I said, if I was the rep (or more on fast-thinking on my feet today) I would've run out and tried ensuring that he didn't follow through on a decision he'd made in the heat of the moment. Oh well, what's done is done.

Worth noting that he didn't really lecture on those topics; rather, he spent the whole time talking about TNF signalling and ubiquitylation.

"I don't expect you to know the details" "I don't expect you to remember any of these proteins" "I just want you to understand the concepts of this slide for the exam" Marie quotes <3

Rep was in the tute and he didn't tell the disruptive bunch to STFU?? Did anyone try to get them to be quiet? Fuck, i would've told them to shut up instead of putting up with it (as long as they aren't twice as big as me lol).

To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he was contributing to the noise. With a couple of very strong exceptions, our cohort sucks at picking reps.

There are many postgraduate physiotherapy schools around Australia.
In Victoria, you would be looking at the Doctor of Physiotherapy at Melbourne University and the Masters of Physiotherapy at La Trobe.
You need an anatomy and physiology subject at 2nd year to be eligible for Melbourne. For La Trobe, the same would be needed, but a Biomechanics subject would be required on top of that (can't complete that subject at Melbourne as they don't offer it. Doing a single subject at La Trobe to satisfy that prerequisite might be an option).
There is a guaranteed entry pathway for Melbourne University - 94+ ATAR and a 75+ WAM would get you a full fee place. CSP places would be based on interview and the WAM (a competitive grade would be at least 70+).

Due to the limited options I have in Victoria, I've also looked at other interstate options.
University of Sydney, Macquarie University in NSW
UQ in Brisbane, or Griffith (but they have an interview and many other annoying pre-requisites that would be more easily satisfied in an Exercise Science degree). Also Bond University, but they have an interview and are quite expensive, as you can imagine for a private uni.
Lastly, there is Curtin in Perth.

There you go, they are all Masters level degrees, that don't require a Bachelor degree in physio. They are designed for people like us who have completed an undergraduate science degree.

All the best with your applications. :)

Thanks heaps my friend.

Microbiology was good. Immunology looks hard. I might be one of those weird people that just chooses to specialise in microbiology next year. We'll see. :P

One does not simply do microbiology without immunology.

:P

The MCB immunology lectures pale in comparison to 3rd year with Andrew and Sammy. Principles of immunology is a pretty awesome subject.
