does anyone doing honours here know if you get any results before the gemsas census date mid-year (basically any mid year grades)? It would be much appreciated  :)

You get 25% of your mark (coursework) at the end of semester one.
BSc (Hons) 2015 Melbourne

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

I want to be an architect.

urgent question ... do sanctions appear later on on your transcript?
for eg, if you hadn't paid a fee within a due date, but eventually pay, will the sanction show on your records?

On your academic transcript? Doubt it.
On your university fee history thingy? Most likely, yes.

Nice try, but no. GEMSAS aren't dumb, you need to finish a degree to have it included (some universities have exceptions for this, mostly for PhDs I think)

hmm its either honours or finding a way to get my units cross credited to negate a year even possible two years off another undergrad degree

I'm sure you could get in medicine even if your GPA is somewhat lower? (IIRC your Gamsat was bloody crazy high!)

I have to pay a 25 dollar library fine before I can go to my grad ceremony in August - ridiculous.

Why ridiculous? They have to have some mechanism of recovering fines. It's a bit draconian, sure, but it's a simple and effective method of actually enforcing fines that exist for good reasons.

I'm looking through the handbook to see what majors I might be interested in, and some of them don't sound all that different from each other, like Micro+Immuno/Patho/Defense and Disease, and Physio/HS&F. How do you guys go about picking a major from these?  ???

First year biology doesn't give you enough exposure for you to make a decision. Second year provides you with a sample of each area - you'll see the differences and be able to make an informed decision. :)

You pick the one that people complain the least about as that department would be organised. From what I gathered the leaves biochem, pathology or immunology. From these three you pick biochem as its the best  ;) because antibodies and immune cells in general are over-rated. No hate simpak :P .
