I wouldn't put FFP for any of my top 3 preferences unless I REALLY wanted to go there.

Btw for those who don't know, the RoS for BMP is gonna be 1 year now. Not sure if I should put BMP in my first preference or hope for a CSP in my 2nd...

Is that because you'd rather take the chance to reapply the next cycle for CSP?
Shit I don't know if I can put it on my parents to help me out with tuition fees if I copped FFP. I might just CSP everything and if I don't get in anywhere, take a gappy and reapply the next cycle.
Also, why wouldn't you just put CSP as #1 and BMP #2?

Stupid question, but if you do a masters degree, in this case masters of genetic counselling, do you still get a GPA score?

Also, do I need a major in genetics to do it? It's one of the careers I am looking at but sadly there isn't much information on it. I can't even find the average salary of a genetic councillor online. Some say 70k, others say average is 40k

Nah by that I mean I'm not sure if for UoM I should have only CSP ticked (no BMP/FFP) and then if I miss out on CSP at UoM I can hope for a CSP at Monash. Alternatively for UoM I could have CSP and BMP ticked so I might get BMP at UoM instead of CSP at Monash. Given that the RoS is only 1 year now, a BMP at Melb could be preferable to CSP at Monash for me.

I wouldn't put FFP in my top 3 preferences (probably only do it for my last preference) because FFP offers require a low (comparatively) score. Let's say I put UoM as pref 1 and Monash as pref 2. For UoM I tick CSP, BMP, and FFP. For monash I tick CSP. After the interviews are done, UoM decides "this dude isn't good enough for CSP or BMP but he meets FFP cut offs so we'll give him FFP". They give me an offer and if I reject the FFP, I'm out of luck. I can't be considered for any other places because I've already received a GEMSAS offer and rejected it. Chances are that the cut-off for FFP at UoM will be lower than that for CSP at Monash. Since I preferenced Melb ahead of Monash and received an FFP offer from Melb however, Monash never even gets a look at my scores.

With a BMP, don't you have to work rurally for however long your course was (or less if you work in isolated regions)? So what do you mean by RoS only being one year?

Recently changed in the Budget and is quite likely to be approved.

As part of the 2015 Budget (or something idk I ain't politically inclined) they've changed it so that MRBS are now converted to BMP (you can tick MRBS in your GEMSAS application but it will be ignored) and BMP RoS is now 1 year (according to an AMSA facebook post but I also emailed [email protected] and they confirmed it).

So if it does indeed go through, then will it be effective for the 2016 intake? And if so, will that mean that by accepting a BMP, one would only have to work rurally for one year before being able to return to a metropolitan area? That sounds too good to be true...

Oh right, thanks man. So then, is there no reason for me to have #1 UoM [CSP, BMP, FFP] and #2 Deakin [CSP, BMP, FFP], given that UoM FFP cutoffs are probably lower than Deakin CSP? (I'd prefer Deakin CSP to UoM FFP).

I realize this only makes sense if UoM FFP cutoffs are definitely lower than Deakin CSP, which is impossible to know for sure.

Pretty much. Getting a FFP at a higher preference uni precludes you from getting a CSP offer at a lower preference uni, even if you would have made the cutoff.

Anyone done EVSC20003 Forests in a Global Context before?

Is it easy for a student who has never done geography before

I have heard that that subject is very easy to do well in, but also that if you don't put enough effort in, it is also very easy to do poorly in. As for required geography knowledge, maybe someone else can chip in?

by the way, another question. If I overload next semester, does that mean that my lowest scoring subject this semester will be completely omitted from my GPA?
