Unfortunately that won't help me this time around. That being said I generally don't learn too well with these parody songs... I get too caught up in the music to actually be paying attention to the lyrics. :P

Do you guys think it's enough to revise off lecture slides? Say, for biology. The textbook seems to go into a lot of detail, and I'm not sure whether we're meant to know it with that much depth.
Thanks!

It really depends on the subject and even the lecturer. In Biochem we have some lecturers whose slides are wholly comprehensive, but others are sparse and require watching the lecture as well to take notes on the slides. From memory, I learned most of first year biology from the slides and a bit of Wikipedia-ing if I felt like a topic was kind of vague on the slides. Textbook is more just another way of hearing about the concepts, so maybe it explains it to you in a way that works better than the notes. Sometimes not.

It's enough to revise off the slides if you can make sense of what's on it.
If not, first reference should be the lecture recording. If that doesn't work you can try the textbook or wikipedia for clarification (or any other resource).

For biology, you only need to know the information that is presented in the lectures. The textbook goes into waaay more detail than is assessed, but it usually has more diagrams and the extra information can help you clarify what's on the slides.

Someone please clarify this

For QM1 it's 30% assignment and 70% exam

If I got 23/30 for my assignments (did the calculation already), and the final exam is out of 70 marks (so 1 mark = 1% to aggregate score), then does that mean I only need 27 marks in the final exam to get an aggregrate score of 50 and pass the subject even if I failed the exam?

Assuming yo did your calculations correctly that would be correct. However, you need to make sure whether the exma is a hurdle or not (i.e. you may need >50% on the final to pass the subject).

yea thats how it works because in qm1 the exam isnt a hurdle, but in qm1 you cant get an overall score higher than 50 without getting at least 50% on the exam.
so any score you get between 27/70 and 35/70 on the exam will lead to an overall score of 50

I've pretty much devoted all my time to BIOM20001 so far during SWOTVAC and will probably continue to do so for the next 5 or so days until I sift through all the content, and I'm starting to feel that maybe I'll be OK in this subject. Only thing is that I'm pretty sure I've just significantly compromised myself for my other two subjects (I haven't even looked at UNIB20007; and have only awarded brief transient glances at GENE20001 - I haven't even done any problem solving). Now I get why people drop their study loads this semester. :/

Stick you're going to be fine for MCB haha.

You can probably cram GENE20001 in two or three days by just doing all the past exam papers in that time. The UNIB20007 exam was pretty tough given that it was a breadth subject lol

UNIB20007 is the least of my concerns because I have almost a week to study for it alone (it's my last exam) but I'll admit GENE20001 has got me a tad shaken up. I know it's not difficult, but I'd like to get some practice in, and let's face it - BIOM20001 has to take priority. Thanks for the vote of confidence - it's very off-putting when all your friends are doing one less subject haha.

EDIT: Ugh now the lecture recordings aren't working for me anymore. >_<

EDIT EDIT: THANK GOD IT'S UP AGAIN

Pro study tip: make a schedule of what you're gonna do for every day up until your final exam. Keeps you motivated to stick to your plan and breaks down the whole study process so things don't get overwhelming. Only problem is that things get pretty bad when you fall behind on your schedule....

this is the best advice
I did this and just wrote down "watch 4 qm lectures and do 2 weeks of tute questions" for each day and it works because it makes the task that more easier to accomplish!
except now im behind and I have to watch 6 today LOL

I put a sticky-note on my table with a list of things to do for each subject each day. It feels really good to see all the things ticked off at the end of the day, makes me feel productive and even more motivated ^^

Still don't understand shit in Chem tho
