For keenbeans who want to see what the 2016 timetables look like, you can view them here

The handbook is still linked to the 2015 timetable although it says 2016

So I've pretty much been undecided about my major throughout this whole year and now that I have to select subjects for next year... I'm even more lost. I envy those who know what they want to do haha..

If I'm leaning towards a couple majors in the Life Sciences, what subjects should I take in order to keep a couple of these open until I ultimately decide on the one.

Oh and if anyone has done a Masters in Nursing Science or Optometry, after their bachelors, can you tell me what it's like or what subjects I'll need to take in my undergrad.
hanks!!  :D

It depends on what majors you want to do but I would suggest anatomy and physiology to start off with if you're looking into the life sciences (plus they're both great subjects!). Also have a look at what subjects you may want to do in third year and make sure you cover the prerequisites next year so you don't miss out when it's too late (something I wish I'd have done when I had the chance). Here is a link of all science credited subjects, organised into their departments/major that may help :)

Is it possible to do more than one 3rd year subject in 2nd year?
My friend and I are thinking of putting a greater workload in second year, so our third year is less stressful.

As long as you meet the prerequisites I think it should be possible, I did one third year subject this semester and I didn't have to apply for it specially or anything, I don't know that doing more than one would be any different (BSc).

I did 2 third years last semester while overloading with 3 other second years
If you don't do a prac subject (which I'm sure you won't), you should be ok
Advanced Prac Chem took forever to do. As long as none of your subjects don't have like a 20 hr + compulsory commitment every week, you should be fine

You might have to inform your student centre though. I didn't because of a glitch in the system and diplomas.

I liked anatomy more than physiology because it's very visual. If you like uh...chopping up people and looking at specimens, then you will like anatomy a lot. You will need to learn a lot of labels from diagrams etc. Lots of rote learning. You are essentially learning the Melway of the body.

Physiology demands understanding over rote learning, so you will have to need to use the body's “logic” to predict what is likely to happen when you mess with homeostasis. It can be pretty fun but also challenging at the same time

For me, physiology all the way (but only if I get a good lecturer). :P Are you in a predicament right now where you need to choose between the two? To be honest, it makes sense to study them together if it's possible.

Definitely physiology imo - anatomy is obviously not unimportant, but I think understanding physiological processes is more insightful for understanding biology than learning all the structures of the human body.

I'm assuming that they compliment each other? I was planning on doing phys and anat in the same semester and biochem by itself in another since I struggle with chem.

Hey guys I'm a first year looking to enrol for finance 1 as a summer subject (Jan 2016) however it doesn't give me an option to select a first year subject in my study planner?

I'm majoring in psych(and using my breadth for what will count as a minor if I do education postgrad) so I only have one extra science subject per semester and I want to do pharmacology in semester 2 so I can't do both of them. but thanks for the info everyone :)

Have you tried doing it under breadths/selective? I'm not sure why it wouldn't pop up.

If you choose Physiology then you will fall in love with Charles (the lecturer) bruh. He is what makes the subject so damn good.
