I'm always happy to share my notes with people, but I would never sell them. Because anyone who has my notes would know selling them is a actually a punishable offence. And that's probably true for anyone else's notes (although I haven't read yours, Travis) because they either contain direct quotes from copyrighted lectures or paraphrasing from the textbook...which anyone who has obtained/referred to my notes in any subject would definitely know. My notes were always just a collection of different copyrighted sources, interspersed with my ramblings, for my own personal use...and whoever else bothered to ask for them. Even though you spend like a million years writing out your own notes, most of the content isn't actually 'yours' and it comes from the lecture/is based around the lecture therefore you're basically breaking the copyright if you distribute them for $$, especially if they include any figures from lectures.

This ^ StudentVIP do try to prevent a lot of this by making it really clear they can't just be records of thelecture, they need to go beyond...my notes do to some extent (e.g. I use my own figures) but that said, I still don't think it'd be appropriate to sell them. You're right, they're not my work in a sense.

If you've carefully considered your decision, don't let me stand in the way. I only raised it out of concern - the last thing I want to see is someone as hardworking as you being exploited.

I explained myself not to have a go or anything, but just to balance out some of the points made and give a bit of insight into why I still do it. A lot of the points you made really sat on my mind for the last few years, so I was a bit conflicted sometimes. At the end of the day though, I helped a few people out at least and I'm happy to have done that

how much Chemistry was involved in BCMB20005? And how exactly difficult was it to study the content when there's only one lecture each week?

Bugger all really. Most of the chem we did was stoich. We weren't really expected to have any knowledge from first year either, to be honest. All of the chem we needed (e.g. dilutions, Henderson-Hasselbach equation etc.) was retaught, and taught much better than it ever was in Chem. To put it in perspective, Chem has been by far my worst subject of my degree (marks wise) and I managed the minute amount of chem in Techniques just fine

Content wise: they're demanding lectures and can be a struggle if you're not into that stuff, but it's certainly not a struggle to keep up. It is sometimes a struggle keeping up to date with the lectures though because your focus is usually on the pracs. That said, they're easy to cram at the end of the semester.

If you want to have a proper chat about Techniques, let me know. I think it's a fantastic subject and would highly recommend it!

Does anyone know if principles of microbiology and immunology helps with pathology? I'm considering doing pathology:exploring disease in second semester but I'm unsure of what subject to do in first semester. I want to preferably do a subject that intertwines with pathology...any help appreciated

In my experience, pathology is a subject that seems to intertwine a lot of the health science disciplines, so it's hard to provide an exact answer here. I studied pathology in the context of BIOM20001, and it went quite well with biochemistry, genetics, cell biology and microbiology/immunology; and after BIOM20002 I'd say it also goes with physiology and pharmacology (perhaps not necessarily anatomy). Hmm... what's your plan in terms of the other subjects you intend to take in second year? Perhaps I (or others) could be of more assistance if we get an idea of what subjects you're thinking of taking, and we could suggest a suitable arrangement for you. Sorry for being vague about it - maybe I don't have a clue at all and someone else will be able to provide a better answer.

they mix together quite well. Indeed, up until this year (I think?)  they had a major in Biomed that combined the two. A lot of path is inflammation, inflammation is an immunological event so yep, they do indeed mix well!
