. I guess the uni could just transition to Allocate+ and then you just get to stick in preferences and that's it, no fighting.
lord jesus please not allocate+ LOL

the system at melbourne lagged today but i much prefer a first in best dressed sort of thing rather than a "lol chuck in ur prefs but i might give u 5 days a week anyway". at least now even when youre able finally get in, if your ideal tute is gone you can pick from heaps of options instead of an auto allocate

also - i walked into the giblin eunson at 9:59 thinking "fk timetables in 1 min better hop on a computer" AND ALL THE COMPUTERS WERE GONE FROM THE LIBRARY LOL i wonder what they were doing with them ?? but yeah at that point i gave up because im doing alot of small subjects with not many timeslots
i was doing the whole thing on my phone which is a pain until my m8 with a laptop saved the day (shoutout to him)

Glad to see someone agrees that there are worse ways to do timetabling. Even if Unimelb does improve the timetabling speed it just means places fill up faster, so you aren't really any better off. Things in life sometimes aren't fair.

Computers are being replaced with newer machines.

Timetable finally just worked for me. I also got the class I wanted. It was super quick and worked on two different browsers. Anyone else?
Omg thank you; I'd given up and was just going to wait until 9:00 - it's working for me too!

Aaaaand all my classes are full  :'(

After all that the only class I didn't get into was one that was on the planned timetable but must have been cancelled.  :) so yeah pretty happy. I stressed for nothing. and I have almost half the contact hours I had in 1st year which I'm so thankful for.

Hey again guys, hope you're enjoying class registration. Just got a few questions, hope you don't mind :)

Is it easy to reallocate your tutes? I'm planning to try out a 2-days per week schedule where I just forcefully shove everything including tutes and lectures into Tuesday and Thursday. If it ends up sucking hard I plan to spread my tutes out to other days.

Also, for lectures that provide vodcasts (I had calculus 1 and 2 in mind), how soon are these available online after the lecture has happened? I plan to skip all lectures for calculus and instead just watch the videos online to save myself some travel time(is this even a good idea? lol).

Generally after about week 3 they don't like you swapping classes anymore. If you decide after week 1 you don't like it then yeah that'll be fine.

I'm not 100% sure whether the lectures for calc 2 will be provided (sometimes they are sometimes they aren't). Lecturers also sometimes use the wrong document cam or forget the microphone etc so it isn't guaranteed to be a useful recording.
Generally they are up within a few hours of the stream they were recorded in, but again this is a 'best effort' service.

This is an incredible coincidence, but I actually have exactly the same problem as Zailiner. Like we are even studying the same things:

I too am thinking about skipping the calculus lectures for the vodcasts and put everything else (three lectures and two tutes) on two days. If anyone else can give an opinion as to whether or not this is a good idea, it would be super helpful!

Zailiner, we should be friends or something.

They ask in-class questions that you need to be present to answer, so yes.

Major lecture clashes, ridiculously long breaks / days with nothing but 1 lecture, and literally no workshops available for VETS20014 due to the shitty availability caused by the disaster that was this morning

Looks like another semester where I'll skip 90% of lectures and just use lectopia.. Was actually pretty optimistic about that subject, but I feel as if not having a workshop allocation just might sour my outlook
