Well, I failed a subject. Has anyone got any experience in what to do next? It was a breadth subject.

Nah no worries. If you want me to explain the calculations simply without looking at your results feel free. But all good.

And I'm sure you're being hard on yourself. It's key that you never compare your results with other people and never judge your intelligence by comparing with others. I've seen your posts on questions threads and you are smart. Just give it your all for the rest of your degree and hope for the best. I'm sure you'll get where you want with the right amount of effort and a good attitude.

thanks :) I was having a bad day and that was nice to read

If you passed all your other subjects nothing will happen, uni won't ask to speak to you or something

The problem though is that now you have to make up for that subject by completing another one (or repeating the same one, but if you fail the same thing twice you might be asked to an 'at risk' meeting)

The credit points from the failed subject don't count towards the required 300 for your degree, so it's like you didn't do that subject at all. It won't be on your study plan but it still affects your WAM. You can do another breadth or elective in its place.

If you want to finish your degree in 3 years you can make up for this by doing a winter or summer subject, or by overloading for one semester

HI,
I sat my Microeconomics exam, had a severe panic attack (although answered some questions), and got a supplementary exam. However, I also received a 66 in the results, Grade Code S, Grade Description WH SP Exam.
I’m just wondering if this means Ill pass if I don’t accept my supplementary?
I ask this because:
1.   The subject has a 50% hurdle to Pass
2.   Although I answered questions,  I really doubted I passed the exam, unless I was somehow scaled past the 50% line.

Firstly, I'm sorry that happened to you. I've been in that exact position before, and the fact that you managed to get a 66 under those conditions/before the special exam is something you should be proud of.

The good news is you passed! You don't need to sit the special exam unless you think you can improve the grade (the special exam result will override the original one)
Unless you mean that 50% in the exam (not just the subject) is needed to pass? In that case you can email your subject coordinator, explain that you have a special exam and you want your exam result to know if you should sit it. They should give you the result, there has been no issue with that in my experience

Your grade will say special exam etc until after the special exam period usually OR if you tell your coordinator that you don't want to sit the exam (this isn't necessary, you can just opt to not turn up on the day if you like) after that it will say H3

Depends on context mostly. Capstone subjects aren't always compulsory, but the general idea is that a capstone subject for a course/major/specialisation is an opportunity to showcase all the general skills and knowledge you're meant to have accumulated while studying the course/major/specialisation. For example, there are some subjects offered by the commerce faculty where students work on a project in teams at an actual business, and the faculty sometimes refers to them as "capstone subjects". The ones I'm talking about aren't compulsory for BCom, however.

If your score is 66 that means you passed the hurdle. People who don't get at least 50% in the exams will have a score of 49 or below regardless of their overall score. So 66 = passed hurdle. If it were me I would probably just keep the original exam score and not do the supplementary exam. Better than doing it again and risk failing unless you are very confident in your knowledge. But even then supplementary exams are just annoying cos you need to keep up with content so much longer and you get over it by the end.

Hey guys just a quick question. So I basically withdrew from a subject I was planning to do next semester. I've enrolled into another one instead. It only lets me select two out of the three lecture times on ''my timetable''. For the other lecture it doesn't appear for some reason.. Like it doesn't matter, I can just rock up to the lecture (i've checked the time of it on the student handbook), but idk why it's not letting me enrol into it on my timetable. Consequently there is a big yellow bubble ''one class not registered'' that is annoying me. Cheers!

2015-2018:| Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) @ UoM
2019-X:| Doctor of Dental Surgery (discontinued)
2019 -2021:| Master of Physiotherapy

Currently: Physiotherapist working at a musculoskeletal clinic. Back pain, sore neck, headaches or any other pain limiting your study? Give me a PM (although please do see your personal health professional first!)

Any questions related to pathways towards studying dentistry or physiotherapy? Gimmi a PM!

I had the same issue last semester, not sure why it happens but I just went to the time I wanted and enrolled in a different time because I found the bubble annoying too
