Different times, different results?
« on: July 30, 2011, 08:25:09 am »
I read on medentry (not sure if his a troll) but you get different scores at different times? Reason that I am believing this is because I do think they release results slowly..whether there is a pattern, I am unsure.

I have heard of this rumour too. I don't see why though, as most people over both seshs had the same test. Again, I'm not totally sure though.

I presonally think they should, I know it sounds stupid but people who had the 8am on average probably had less sleep/time to prepare blah blah blah.
And these two questions RE the pearls or the abacus, were they seperate sessions or mixed into both? The boxes had special codes on them, and were allocated to rows in particular...

Mental preparation? I do agree with that sentiment - if you wake up at say, 6.30am, then there is sufficient time for breakfast/dressing/getting there. If you have a later session, then you have more time to get in the "zone", plus it is a less abnormal day unless you are used to getting up that early.

I disagree. While waiting around and all the morning people came out, that made me even more nervous that I already was. Especially as they were saying things like:
"Oh man, section two was a killer"
"I can't believe I couldn't finish any of the sections"
"Did you hear about the person crying on the second floor?"

I think that's worse mental prep (destroy's any "zone" that may have been created) than going in with a fresh and "un-post-UMAT-depression-corrupted" mind.

UMAT isn't a test you can cram, which you would have realised. Having a few extra hours won't do anything imo. In a test/exam situation, normally drowsiness or whatever isn't an issue because you would be quite nervous and it just means you would be quite alert throughout the whole time, I know I was..

Just to clarify, I didn't mean last minute cramming. I share lexitu's sentiments, but also yours as well Rohit. I'm not saying any time is necessarily better, because each has bad factors to it, but I'd definitely say people in the later sessions would have different feelings to those who did it first, particularly for the reasons you said Rohit.

I had to get up ridiculously early to get to the UMAT. I would've felt more "switched on" had I have got up later, so hopefully this rumour is true.

i doubt it. the only way that you can get different results from others would be if you got the trial answers correct and werent counted which would be unlucky (me)

Pretty sure if I've had less sleep, I'm going to be more likely to make a dumb mistake then if I was well rested.

Yeah, kinda in the same boat. I had to be up driving at 5.45am to get there by 7.45...

Yes! I was up alittle earlier and that, it's ridiculous! Why couldn't it be done in the afternoon? Or let the people who have to travel do it in the afternoon?

Some people who are really serious actually sleep over at a nearby hotel just to avoid those problems

I know of someone who did this last year, seemed to work for them.
