Students with an ATAR below 99.90 may be considered depending on demand.

So in effect it's a scheme predominantly targeting 60 people a year? Rubbish..

There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a very particular scheme with a very particular goal

It's basically the same as the previous program for 99.90+...

The scholarship is the same. The guarantee is the same. The travel scholarship wouldn't be that hard to get if you're on that level (and a lot of the students receiving the scholarship would be KLD, I'd guess). Internships abound for later year students. And it really depends on what the targeted academic opportunities are...

Truth.  Also re-iterating what appianway said, in that it's basically identical to what was the case already.  Here's hoping that the "targetted academic enhancement opportunities" are meaningful, but realistically, I doubt it'll be anything particularly interesting...

It's not exactly the same; they are introducing early interviews for the Doctor of Medicine program so that the "satisfactory interview score" requirement can be satisfied before commencement of the Bachelor of Biomedicine. Also, there are now no academic requirements for these students in their undergrad degree. So the "guarantee" is actually a guarantee now. :P

The academic benefits are probably guaranteed honours, which is sort of hollow if you're doing science/biomedicine because you'll need to find a supervisor rather than just doing arts "research"

Was this around before?

Engineering only.

This new guarantee supercedes the former policy guaranteeing a CSP in the Masters to those with an ENTER of 95 or above, entering New Generation degrees with engineering systems majors or sequences.

So do you reckon there'd be any lowering for those who have KLD, rural and underrep status? This is very, very appealing

Lowering of the ATAR for entry into the Chancellor's program? I seriously doubt it.
