Statement of marks - I feel jibbed - What should I do?
« on: August 11, 2011, 06:32:26 pm »
Alright I received my statement of marks.
For question 3, I got 0/4 possible marks.. which means both examiners marked me 0. I don't get it, I wrote state-dependent and context-dependent cues and explained them both so I thought I would've got the 2 marks.. or at least 1/2 at least if I forgot to relate it back to the question.
Also I clearly remember writing 'brief eye movement or if something blocks the radar' for question 9b, and it was wrong.. both examiners marked me wrong again :(
Should I order my script and if it's wrong will it get remarked? I feel a little jibbed but I'm pretty happy otherwise, should I just leave it?
Thanks

@ssNake, if you have no helpful advice, stop hijacking threads with your issues.

@playsimme, you could always arrange an inspection of your exam, but IIRC VCAA generally do not change your marks unless there's been a significant error (e.g. the examiners have missed a page or something). Speak to your teacher about it, also you might want to contact VCAA to ascertain what their policy is on this.

Thankyou! it's weird because I got marks on the questions I thought I bombed but lost significant ones on the questions I thought I nailed. I'll definitely ask my teacher and get her opinion.

Really should encourage people to inspect their exams. They only say that so students are reluctant to get an inspection.

For the question where I got 0 marks from each examiner, do you think they would've missed the question, maybe due to the new scanning procedure or something? Because I spoke to my teacher after the exam and she said state and context dependent was right.. Is this missing a question a possibility due to the new marking scheme or am I being paranoid

Seems like you got two 'bad' examiners :P

...and nah, they wouldn't have missed the whole question. That's wishful thinking.

if i get my exam rechecked, and mistakes were found with their marking...lol do i get them marks or what?

Just to put it into perspective I got 1/2 for that question and 2/2 and I wrote word-to-word definitions + encoding specificity principle.

Seems like they marked it like a bitch.....you'll not get any more marks for it.

Of course I did...you integrate the word-to-word definition into the scenario + add extra (encoding specificity principle)

and I still got 3/4.

sigh. such is life.

how can you tell if they missed a  page if there's no marking on the paper ninwa?

I got 2/4 on the easiest SA question in the whole exam :'(

1a)
only question on the page, maybe one examiner missed it?

hmm so how can i get my exam rechecked as in what are the procedures? now i am seriously doubting if my A was fair.
also for extended, reckon that if my handwriting is considered messy to them, i would have lost some marks too?

Your essay will never be changed.

If two examiners disagree by a certain limit it goes up to a higher ranked examiner and then higher and higher...until the chief assessor himself marks it.

Same, I just wanna find my teacher's opinion when we go through my script. I still don't get how putting two perfect definitions which are obviously the right answer warrants a 0/2 from BOTH examiners. Even if I forgot to fully relate back to the question.. it should be 1/2. Either they both hate messy writing or missed the page.. and idk I hope so..

uggggh god how annoying. i thought these people are out to give us marks -.-

anyway i wasn't referring to what i wrote, i just meant that just incase they thought my handwriting was like unreadable ...and penalise me for it :/
