double major in a double degree?

Probably will still ask the faculty people on Monday, but I'm asking here first cause I'm curious.

Namely the degree I'm talking about is BA/BSc.

I know you can do double majors in both and both need uber amounts of planning, (ie, better pick something you like and stick with it). What I want to know is, in the BSc part of it, can you complete two majors in two different areas of study (yeah I know, compulsory science and math units = no room, but would it be hypothetically possible because):

a) the first major I want is maths, so that's compulsory unit #1 and first major out of the way.
b) the second major I want is geographical science. Which is cross faculty with Arts, which is the other half of my degree.

Basically what would happen is if I followed both subjects through to fourth year, I would be one subject off of a major in Geo... because I would have done 8 math subjects and 7 geo subjects plus SCI2010 or whatever its called. Can I stick that 8th geo subject into the electives part of my Arts degree (it also can be an Arts unit after all -- unit prefix is ATS) and STILL be able to call it a major? Or will they chuck a hissy fit and say 'no it's already been counted towards science so keep dreaming kthxbai'?

'electives' basically mean free choices. It's not like UoM breadth where they restrict it so it must not be part of your major. You can take anything you want, so long as you meet the prerequisites for those units.

So the answer is, yes. That's fine.

What you'll find is after filling up your two science majors, arts major, science compulsory subjects (SCI2010), science breadth option/first year requirement and any additional arts requirements, you'll still have some electives left to do whatever you want to.
