SEAS @ Monash

I was reading about SEAS applications for Monash, and it seems that you can gain an extra 20 aggregate points maximum. Realistically, I'm looking at about an ATAR of ~92 or an aggregate of about 166. Does that mean if I get maximum aggregate points (I fall under underrepresented schools, difficult personal circumstances and disadvantaged financial background), it will raise my aggregate to 186, which is 98.15?! Is this true?

My dream course is Science/Law which requires 98.00, but I saw myself with no possibility of getting it. Perhaps it is within my reach. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could clarify this.

Here is the link
2010: Legal Studies [34]
2011: English [41] Italian [27], Further Mathematics [32], Biology[40], Chemistry[34]
90.65 ATAR
2012: Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Finance @ La Trobe University

The aggregate bonus would depend on the severity of each category and how these bonuses are applied will vary from course to course.  In highly competitive courses such as the law doubles at Monash you should not expect to be granted such a high aggregate bonus.

To give you some indication, here are the lowest ATARs accepted in some Law doubles at Monash for 2011 (these are raw ATARs - these students would likely have been SEAS applicants but they don't publish adjusted ATARs)
Arts/Law - 94.9
Commerce/Law - 95.65
Science/Law - 95.1

Where did you find those ATARs? :P

Christiano, I wouldn't think of the SEAS aggregate points as a 100% ATAR add-on, selection officers will look at applications and grant admissions on a case-by-case basis. So it won't necessarily be a matter of adding 20 or so aggregate points to someone's aggregate just because they've applied under a category, they look at your application and your circumstances individually.

There's this other access scheme I found for Monash, called the Vice Chancellor's Access Monash List. It says that I can get into guaranteed entry into law with a minimum of 94, provided that I prove I am financially disadvantaged (I receive centrelink benefits). It seems too good to be true, and it probably has some other strings attached. Would anyone know anything about this scheme?

Just exhausting every possible option to get into Monash Law/Science :)
