Because, there is more lactate at the muscle site when compared to the blood and there will be diffusion to the blood and it takes a while to clear that concentration gradient. Then, it doesn't decrease linearly because the higher the concentration of lactate the quicker it will be removed. Make sense? Biology and Chemistry.

i understand why it might not be linear, but still dont get why there is a slight rise during recovery?? because an active recovery is performed at lower intensities. Lol seems pretty complex but i must be pretty slow, considering over 60% got it right...

Because there is heaps "spilling out" from the muscle into the blood stream. Think about it. The muscle has just been producing a massive amount of lactic acid (dissociating into lactate and H+), diffusion is not instant, so the blood lactate concentration will not immediately reflect the muscle lactate concentration. You would see a similar thing if there was no active recovery, obviously active recovery is going to make removal occur more quickly.

Is this an example of what we might be asked to do/did i answer it correctly?

E.g. Using a socio-ecological model framework, critique the 'Find Thirty every day' program (a workplace initiative). (6 marks)
The 'find thirty every day' program is specific to the target group of employees, as all the initiatives implemented, such as organising lunch break walks with colleagues, are applicable to staff; thus, the intervention is effective in this regard.
The strategy targets mainly the social and individual levels in order to incease physical activity levels, such as encouraging colleagues to join team sports together, a form of social support, but does not work the physical environment or policy levels, which may reduce the effectiveness of the intervention.
Impediments to activity, such as lack of facilities, have not been adressed, thus the program may not be as effective as it could be.

Also, if we have to explain the chronic adaptation where a trained athlete has lower energy expenditure levels than an untrained athlete at sub-maximal levels; would we say that the trained athlete has greater economy due to increased efficiency of their cardiorespiratory parameters?

In my opinion, as I said in the lecture:

- Identify unique factors at each level
- Give one point for how these unique factors were addressed at each level
- Summative statement(s) about the overall cohesiveness of the intervention and anything else that's relevant

- - -

Yeah, economy or efficiency are your keywords :)

When it asks for 'training principles', do only specificity, intensity, frequency duration and overload count as principles? Or does variety, maintenance, etc. count as training principles?

They all count. All are principles,

Disagree, it's more than just muscular.
